Did You Know Meryl Streep and Anna Wintour Are Actually Related?

When Meryl Streep stepped into the razor-sharp stilettos of Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada, she didn’t just play a character; she created a cultural phenomenon. As the icy, commanding, and utterly unforgettable editor-in-chief of Runway, Streep became one of cinema’s most iconic figures.
Widely believed to be inspired by fashion powerhouse Anna Wintour, the character blurred the lines between reel and real, cementing its place in pop culture history. And now, in a twist no one could expect, a new study revealed that Streep and Wintour are actually, distantly related, sixth cousins, connected through shared ancestors dating back generations.

“Well, that explains everything. As our ancestors would say, I am chuffed!” reacted Streep to the revelation.

A cheeky nod to the uncanny overlap between her iconic portrayal and its real-world inspiration, making this discovery all the more deliciously full-circle. Meanwhile, The Devil Wears Prada is coming back with its sequel. Merly will reprise her role as Miranda, along with Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.
About the Sequel

While the first film followed Andy (Hathaway) as a newcomer finding her footing at a high-fashion magazine, the sequel sees her return to Runway in a very different role, as Miranda navigates the challenges of a rapidly evolving media landscape. The story also brings back Emily (Blunt), Miranda’s former assistant, who is now a powerful executive at a luxury brand, one that holds the financial backing Runway may need to survive.
Cast
Returning to reprise their roles are Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, alongside Meryl Streep. Besides them, the sequel also introduces some new faces such as Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu and Kenneth Branagh, among others.
Release Date

20th Century Studios will release The Devil Wears Prada 2 in cinemas on May 1, 2026.

Upcoming OTT Releases in April 2026

April is anything but quiet on the streaming front. It’s one of those months where you don’t even realise how much is dropping until you start listing it out. From returning favourites that are wrapping up long-running arcs to fresh concepts that could become the next big thing, the variety is solid. You’ve got everything here, superhero chaos, courtroom comedy, emotional drama and even a slightly offbeat romance. If you like planning your watchlist instead of scrambling last minute, this lineup makes it easy.

Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2

Release Date – April 3
Platform – Apple TV+

Picking up right where the first season left off, this show dives back into a wealthy suburban neighbourhood where everything looks perfect on the outside but feels anything but underneath. At the centre is a freshly divorced hedge fund manager whose decisions slowly spiral from questionable to outright disastrous. What makes the show work is how it balances dark humour with an underlying sense of discomfort. Jon Hamm brings that familiar charm to a deeply flawed character, making you root for him even when you probably shouldn’t.

Maamla Legal Hai Season 2

Release Date – April 3
Platform – Netflix

The courtroom chaos returns, and this time VD Tyagi is aiming higher. Played by Ravi Kishan, the character moves from being a street-smart, jugaadu lawyer to someone aspiring to sit on the judge’s chair. Around him, the Patparganj District Court continues to deal with strange, almost unbelievable cases that are inspired by real-life incidents. The show’s strength lies in how it mixes humour with sharp observations about the Indian legal system, making it both entertaining and relatable.

Ma Ka Sum

Release Date – April 4

Platform – Prime Video

This one brings a refreshing twist to the usual romance setup. The story follows a 19-year-old math prodigy who decides to take matters into his own hands when it comes to his mother’s love life. Instead of relying on chance, he builds an algorithm to find her the perfect partner. Teaming up with his professor, what starts as a logical experiment soon turns into something far more emotional and unpredictable. It’s quirky, slightly chaotic and rooted in relationships that feel real.

Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord Season 1

Release Date – April 6

Platform – JioHotstar

For fans who have always felt Darth Maul deserved more, this series finally gives him the spotlight. Set in the darker corners of the galaxy, it explores his origins and rise within the criminal underworld. Instead of just being remembered for his appearance in The Phantom Menace, the show digs into what shaped him into one of the most feared figures in the franchise. It promises a more intense, character-driven take within the larger Star Wars universe.

The Boys Season 5

Release Date – April 8

Platform – Amazon Prime Video

This is where it all comes together. The fifth season marks the final chapter of one of the most unpredictable superhero shows out there. Homelander is more unstable than ever, and Butcher along with his team is running out of time, allies and options. Over the years, the show has built a world full of corporate corruption, media manipulation and brutal superhero politics, and now every thread is set to collide. Expect things to get darker, louder and far more chaotic before it all ends.

Big Mistakes Season 1

Release Date – April 9

Platform – Netflix

A new entry in the mix, this series revolves around the kind of decisions that seem harmless in the moment but end up changing everything. It leans heavily on character-driven storytelling, with an ensemble cast navigating consequences that slowly unfold over time. There’s still some mystery around the full plot, but early buzz suggests it’s the kind of show that quietly pulls you in and keeps you hooked without relying on loud twists.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles

Release Date – April 15

Platform – Apple TV+

Based on Rufi Thorpe’s novel, this story follows Margo, a young woman trying to navigate life while dealing with financial instability and unexpected motherhood. It’s messy in the most real way, blending humour with emotional moments that feel grounded. The show doesn’t try to over-dramatise things, instead it focuses on everyday struggles and the small decisions that shape bigger outcomes.

Stranger Things: Tales from ’85

Release Date – April 23

Platform – Netflix

Expanding the world of Hawkins, this anthology spinoff takes a different approach by telling standalone stories set after the events of the original series. While the format changes, the core elements remain the same, eerie atmosphere, ‘80s nostalgia and that lingering sense of something not being quite right. It’s a way of revisiting the universe without continuing the exact same storyline, giving fans something familiar yet new at the same time.
