For months, the makers of Peddi have kept fans guessing about the true genre of Ram Charan’s upcoming film. Early reports suggested that the Buchi Babu Sana directorial was a rustic sports action entertainer centred on cricket. The perception gained traction when the film’s title glimpse dropped in 2025. Later, the song Chikiri Chikiri showed Ram Charan performing a hook step with a cricket bat, and its viral popularity further cemented the belief that Peddi revolved heavily around the sport. However, fresh updates point to a surprising twist.

Hidden side of the story
According to the latest buzz, Ram Charan isn’t just playing a cricketer. He reportedly essays a wrestler who also steps onto the cricket pitch, adding an unexpected layer to the narrative. This revelation sheds light on the actor’s dramatic physical transformation in recent months. To convincingly portray a wrestler, he has bulked up significantly, sporting a rugged and muscular look that is expected to be a major highlight as promotions intensify.

Peddi is said to be a gritty emotional drama rather than a straightforward sports entertainer, blending high-stakes wrestling bouts with rustic cricket matches. While the bat-swinging imagery initially drew audiences in, the wrestling ring is poised to deliver the film’s real punch. Recently, choreographer Jani Master described Ram Charan’s dedication and hard work for the film as “absolutely phenomenal.”
Peddi features music by A. R. Rahman and stars Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead. The ensemble cast also includes Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu and Boman Irani. Cinematography is handled by R. Rathnavelu. The high-budget production is likely to hit screens on April 30.
Ram Charan’s personal milestone
On the personal front, Ram Charan and his wife Upasana Kamineni recently celebrated a major milestone. The couple, who already have a daughter, Klin Kaara, welcomed twins, a baby boy and a girl, on January 31.
