Days after Jr NTR moved Delhi High Court over protecting his personality rights on various online platforms, actor-politician Pawan Kalyan too approached the court. Also being the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pawan filed a personality rights suit in the Delhi High Court. He alleged that various platforms and e-commerce sites on social media have been using his name, photos and identity without his permission for commercial use.

The Delhi High Court responds…

Misuse of identity on social media platforms has become a menace to the celebs. Pawan Kalyan felt the need and right to control his name and identity, and the exploitation of his personality rights. After he filed a suit, the Delhi High Court responded positively. Acknowledging his right to control his name against unauthorized use of apps, merchandise, it had asked Pawan to submit details of the infringing links within two days. Intermediaries have also been instructed to take necessary action within a week. The next hearing on the case is scheduled on December 22. Such rights under Article 19 (Freedom of Speech/Expression) and Article 21 (Right to Life/Dignity) of the Indian Constitution protects and establishes individual identity as valuable property and links them to Privacy & Free Speech. It further boosts celeb publicity rights as protection against misuse.

Several celebs followed suit

Pawan Kalyan is one of the biggest stars in Tollywood. Apart from being a politician, his flexis, cutouts, standees and photos are being used in various online platforms for commercial purposes. His team has brought this to the actor’s notice, recently. Pawan responded by filing a suit in the Delhi High Court. After Amitabh Bachchan’s personality rights cases in 2022, several celebs including Chiranjeevi, Anil Kapoor, Jr NTR among many have followed suit. Such acts make it easier for celebs to protect their identity from misuse, especially with AI and deepfakes emerging.

‘An unforgettable journey’

In this video Maruthi acknowledges the amount of time it’s taken for the film to shape up. It’s been more than three and half years since The Raja Saab went on floors. “It’s been a long and unforgettable journey with Prabhas. After years of passion and hard work, the film is now ready to release,” said the director. “Before you watch the film on the big screen, we wanted to take you a little deeper into the world building of The Raja Saab – from story to music, action to art work and styling to VFX.” The stylishly cut making videos of the film is certainly attracting a lot of buzz. The makers have planned a series of ‘special episodes’ that will feature BTS stories and give the audiences a glimpse in to the efforts of the cast and crew that shaped up the film. The episodes pertaining to each craft will be released episode wise making every story independent of each other.

The Raja Saab plot

A carefree man (Prabhas) discovers that he’s the heir to a troubled royal estate. The drama unfolds …regarding power, loyalty, property, and long-standing rivalries. The man stands at crossroads unable to decide – whether to embrace the challenge to enjoy property and continue the legacy. The fact that Prabhas is stepping into a horror genre for the first time adds to the buzz. Thaman S’ background score in the trailer and promo videos is already an instant hit. Billed as the biggest horror franchise films, The Raja Saab is slated for release on January 9, 2026.
