Tesla Cracks Down On Cybertruck Resales With $50,000 Penalty In US

Amidst the excitement surrounding the release of Tesla’s Cybertruck on November 30th, potential buyers with the intention of reselling should exercise caution. Tesla has introduced a substantial penalty for customers attempting to resell their newly purchased Cybertruck within the initial year of ownership, as outlined in a newly added section of the vehicle’s order agreement.

“You agree that you will not sell or otherwise attempt to sell the vehicle within the first year following your vehicle’s delivery date,” the company wrote in the legally binding document.

According to Gizmodo, the clause states that resellers of the Cybertruck, Tesla’s long-awaited electric pickup truck slated to begin delivery on November 30th, could be barred entirely from purchasing Tesla vehicles ever again. Tesla also threatens legal action against resellers, seeking injunctive relief of at least $50,000. Elon Musk’s electric vehicle maker asks anyone who wants to dump their Cybertruck to sell it back to Tesla or receive written consent from the company before selling it to a third party.

Tesla will be making three models of the Cybertruck, a vehicle that can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in less than three seconds. The basic model will cost $39,900 (roughly Rs. 32,03,700) and offer a 250-mile range between charges; the top-line truck will have twice that range and sell for $69,900 (roughly Rs. 57,41,900).

“Hang In There…”: President Biden’s Message To Hostages In Gaza

US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday he is engaged in daily discussions to secure the release of hostages held by the Hamas terrorist group and believes it will happen.

“Hang in there, we’re coming,” Biden said at the White House, when asked by reporters what his message to family members of hostages was.

Biden said he speaks daily with the parties involved in negotiations over a possible hostage release, but did not want to share the details.

Shortly after his remarks, the White House said Biden’s top adviser on the Middle East, Brett McGurk, is heading to the region for talks with officials in Israel, the West Bank, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and other nations.

“In Israel, he will discuss Israel’s security needs, the imperative of protecting civilians in the course of military operations, as well as ongoing efforts to secure the release of hostages, and the need to rein in violent extremist settlers in the West Bank,” it said in a statement.

Hamas fighters surged across the border from Gaza into Israel on Oct.7, killing about 1,200 people and taking around 240 hostages, according to Israeli officials. Only four hostages have been released to date.

In a White House statement on Sunday, Biden “unequivocally” condemned the holding of hostages by Hamas, including many young children, one of whom is a 3-year old American citizen whose parents were killed by the group on Oct. 7th.

The families of Israelis being held hostage by Hamas in the Gaza Strip kicked off a five-day march on Tuesday from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem to demand the government do more to secure their release.

In Washington, supporters planned a “March for Israel” later on Tuesday, following large protests across the United States and the world against Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.

The Israeli bombardment of Gaza has killed more than 11,000 Palestinians, around 40% of them children, according to health officials in the Hamas-ruled territory.

Reuters last week reported that Qatar, where several political leaders of Hamas are based, has been leading mediation efforts between Hamas and Israeli officials over the hostages.

Violence has also been escalating in the West Bank, where at least 176 Palestinians have been killed in incidents involving Israeli security forces since the beginning of October and at least another eight Palestinians killed by Israeli settlers, according to the UN human rights chief.

Israel has said it has been conducting counter-terrorism operations against militants from Hamas and other Palestinian armed factions in the West Bank.

Supermassive Black Hole At Centre Of Our Galaxy Is Pulsing Every 76 Minutes. Here’s What It Means

Scientists have made a remarkable discovery from a black hole that lies more than 25,000 light-years from Earth and is four million times more massive than our Sun. Astrophysicists Gustavo Magallanes-Guijon and Sergio Mendoza of the National Autonomous University of Mexico have recorded the supermassive hole “pulsing” every 76 minutes like clockwork, as per a report in Science Alert.

The gamma-ray of the black hole named Sagittarius A* is fluctuating and is similar in periodicity in changes to the black hole’s radio and X-ray emission. The scientists therefore suggest that there could be an orbital motion of “something” moving around the black hole.

As per the outlet, there is currently no radiation that can be detected from black holes. The shadows are so black that they are not visible to the telescopes used to examine the light that streams through the universe. However, it is to be noted that several events can occur in the severe gravitational regime outside the black hole’s event horizon. Astronomers have also detected a pattern from the region of the blackhole as light is emitted in a multitude of wavelengths and “the strength of that light varies significantly over time.”

In 2022, it was found that radio waves vary around 70 minutes. Further, a 2017 study revealed that the X-ray flares from the black hole had a periodicity of 149 minutes. That is almost twice as periodicity of the variations in radio waves and gamma rays.

In 2021, Sagittarius A* was connected to gamma radiation. Both scientists believed that the gamma-ray data may contain some mysteries. They found that every 76.32 minutes, according to the black hole “lets out a flare of gamma radiation” which was dubbed as the “most energetic wavelength range of light in the universe”.  According to the researchers, the periodicity of the radio flare and the gamma-ray flare are nearly identical. It seems unlikely that the X-ray flare’s double periodicity at 149 minutes is a coincidence, indicating that the X-ray flare’s periodicity is a harmonic of the radio and gamma-ray periodicities.

“Since the black hole itself emits no radiation, and such regular, repeated periodicity is often a sign of orbital motion, the physical mechanism is likely something orbiting the black hole,” the outlet noted. According to the 2022 study, the object in question is most likely a blob of hot gas bound together by a strong magnetic field that accelerates particles in a synchronic manner while also releasing radiation.

The orbital distance of that blob from the black hole is similar to Mercury’s around the Sun. However, it’s moving at a very fast speed, around 30 per cent the speed of light, with an orbital period of 70 to 8- minutes. According to the astrophysicists, their findings support that interpretation of the radio data, indicating that the gas blob is generating light at several wavelengths.
