Atishi Submits Report To Arvind Kejriwal Over Complaint Against Delhi Chief Secretary

Delhi Vigilance Minister Atishi has submitted a 650-page primary report to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with a complaint against Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar regarding the Bamnoli land acquisition matter, official sources said on Tuesday.

The complaint alleged that the chief secretary’s son was employed by a relative of a man who was awarded enhanced compensation for his land acquired for a road project.

“Atishi has submitted a 650-page report on the matter to Kejriwal. The report states that an undue gain of Rs 850 crore was earned in the matter. The land was bought near the Dwarka expressway at Rs 75 lakh only in 2015,” a source said.

There was no immediate reaction from the chief secretary.

Mr Kejriwal had asked Atishi to conduct an inquiry into the complaint.

The original award of the 19-acre land at Bamnoli, being acquired by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), was raised from Rs 41 crore to Rs 353 crore in May this year by the then district magistrate (South West) Hemant Kumar.

Hemant Kumar was later suspended by the Ministry of Home Affairs in connection with the matter.

In a press conference on Monday, Delhi government Divisional Commissioner Ashwani Kumar said the allegations levelled against Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar are baseless and part of “dirty politics”.

Elon Musk Apologises For Not Meeting Piyush Goyal At Tesla Factory: ”It Was An Honour…”

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal visited the manufacturing facility of US-based electric vehicle major Tesla at Fremont, California, on Tuesday and highlighted India’s role in contributing to Tesla’s remarkable journey. During his visit, he engaged with Indian engineers and financial professionals, but missed Elon Musk’s ”magnetic presence”.

Notably, the Twitter boss was unable to meet the minister in person as he was unwell. Responding to Mr. Goyal’s post on his visit to the Tesla factory, the billionaire said he was honoured by the minister’s visit and said that he looked forward to a future meeting.

“Visited @Tesla’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Fremont, California. Extremely delighted to see talented Indian engineers and finance professionals working in Senior positions and contributing to Tesla’s remarkable journey to transform mobility,” Mr Goyal wrote, sharing pictures of his visit to Tesla’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Fremont.

“Also proud to see the growing importance of auto component suppliers from India in the Tesla EV supply chain. It is on its way to double its components imports from India. Missed Mr @ElonMusk’s magnetic presence and I wish him a speedy recovery,” Mr Goyal said on social networking platform X.

Replying to him, Mr Musk tweeted, ”It was an honor to have you visit Tesla! My apologies for not being able to travel to California today, but I look forward to meeting at a future date.”

According to sources cited by Reuters, Tesla is actively pursuing the establishment of an Indian factory, aiming to manufacture a $24,000 car within the country.

The visit assumes significance as there are reports that India is looking at giving customs duty concessions to Tesla for setting up a plant in the country. In September, Mr Goyal said the company is looking to source components worth around USD 1.9 billion from India this year against USD 1 billion in 2022.

In August 2021, Elon Musk said Tesla might set up a manufacturing unit in India if it first succeeded with imported vehicles in the country. He had said Tesla wanted to launch its vehicles in India “but import duties are the highest in the world by far of any large country!”.

A Cup Of Strawberries A Day May Reduce Dementia Risk, Claims Study

There is good news for strawberry lovers. A team of researchers from University of Cincinnati has claimed that eating eight strawberries a day can help prevent depression and dementia. The researchers further said that having the daily portion of these berries every day for 12 weeks improved mood, reduced issues relating to memory and decreased depressive symptoms in middle-aged, overweight adults. Their findings were published last month in the journal Nutrients. The research is based on the analysis of medical data of 30 overweight patients.

According to New York Post, the research team divided these patients, who complained of mild cognitive impairment, in two groups. One group, which had patients between the ages of 50 and 65, was given a powder with the equivalent of one cup of whole strawberries (the standard serving size), while the other half got a placebo.

The experts observed both the groups for 12 weeks, tracking their long-term memory, mood and metabolic health.

They found that those in the strawberry powder group performed better on a word-list learning test and had a significant reduction in depressive symptoms.

Sydney Morning Herald said that the controlled group had five men and 25 women.

Researchers hope that their findings could assist in the prevention of dementia, which currently has no known cure and impacts one in 11 people above the age of 65 in the UK.

“Dementia is a general term that includes many different diseases, all without remedies. It is not clear when or if effective therapy will be available; prevention and mitigation through dietary and lifestyle choices is currently the best approach we have,” Professor Robert Krikorian, of the University of Cincinnati’s Academic Health Centre, told Sydney Morning Herald.

According to Healthline, strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C and manganese and also contain decent amounts of folate (vitamin B9) and potassium.
