The search for Aditya Vardhan Singh, a deputy director in the UP health department, has entered its second day after he was swept away by the Ganga’s strong currents while bathing at Nanamau Ghat. His friends allege that divers initially demanded money for rescue efforts. Authorities are now investigating these claims while continuing the search.

The Supreme Court of India deliberated on the legality of bulldozing properties solely due to criminal charges against the owners. The bench stressed that demolitions must follow legal protocols. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta affirmed that properties can’t be bulldozed for criminal associations. The term ‘Bulldozer justice,’ as referred to by the public, is a form of instant justice mechanism involving the razing of houses, shops, or any premises belonging to individuals accused of a crime.
