“Love letter loading,” director Atlee Kumar wrote on X, confirming the title poster release date for AA22 (Allu Arjun’s 22nd film). Atlee’s sixth directorial venture was finalized in late 2024 and commenced filming in 2025. Several months into production, the prestigious multilingual project has locked its title, which is slated for revelation on April 8. Why have Atlee and Sun Pictures chosen this date? It coincides with the birthday of the film’s hero, Allu Arjun, lately referred to by his industry colleagues as the Icon Star. The Pushpa actor will turn 44 this Wednesday.

This project is perhaps the first pan-Indian movie whose title has remained unknown to the world, defying media exclusives or online chatter. Even the title of the S.S. Rajamouli-Mahesh Babu movie, Varanasi, was known weeks ahead of its November 2025 reveal. This level of suspense is a trend-setter in its own right, as Sun Pictures has meticulously kept all information strictly under wraps.

Superstar actress Deepika Padukone is cast as the female lead. Atlee appears to have designed a sci-fi story, possibly incorporating supernatural elements. Today’s pre-look suggests that primal elements are to be expected. The beastly imagery stands in sharp contrast to the phrase ‘Love letter loading.’ Speculations are rife that a mythical creature angle might be part of the story. The pre-look is mysterious enough to spark buzz without revealing any plot details.
It is rumoured that this is the actor’s biggest movie in terms of budget. Pushpa 2: The Rule was his previous release, and it is one of only three movies (alongside Baahubali 2 and Dhurandhar 2) to gross more than ₹1500 crore in Indian languages. This monumental success has necessitated that the Atlee directorial be made on a startling scale.

After months of uncertainty around its theatrical plans, Arya’s much-awaited spy thriller Mr X has finally zeroed in on a release date. The makers, who had earlier indicated an April window, have now confirmed that the film will hit cinemas on April 17.
A long-delayed mission finally gets a date
The project, which wrapped production back in 2024, has been caught in a prolonged wait to secure a suitable release slot. Industry chatter suggested multiple reshuffles before the team arrived at this mid-April date, positioning the film as a major summer offering.
Directed by Manu Anand, Mr X marks the filmmaker’s return to the espionage space following his debut feature FIR. While the plot of the new film is being tightly guarded, early promotional material offers a glimpse into its central conflict. The teaser hints at a looming crisis that forces a group of dormant secret agents to return to action, suggesting a narrative that blends urgency with high-stakes covert operations.
Given Manu Anand’s previous outing explored politically sensitive themes such as extremism and Islamophobia, expectations are that Mr X could also carry a thematic undercurrent beneath its slick genre surface. Whether it leans more towards action spectacle or ideological commentary remains to be seen.
Really excited for this special Film from all of us â¤ï¸🤗 #MrX – The action begins on the big screens from APRIL 17, worldwide!

Ensemble cast and strong technical backing
The film brings together an eclectic ensemble led by Arya, who headlines the project in what appears to be a physically demanding role. Joining him is Manju Warrier, whose recent choices across industries have consistently leaned towards layered, performance-driven characters. Veteran actor Sarath Kumar and Gautham Ram Karthik also play key roles, adding generational weight to the narrative.
The supporting cast includes Athulyaa Ravi, Raiza Wilson, Jayaprakash, Kaali Venkat, and Anagha, indicating a mix of familiar faces and emerging talent. With a genre like espionage, the interplay between characters often becomes crucial, and Mr X seems to be banking on this dynamic ensemble.
On the technical front, the film is backed by a solid crew. Cinematographer Arul Vincent handles the visuals, and going by the teaser, the film appears to adopt a sleek, stylised aesthetic suited to the spy genre. Music is composed by Dhibu Ninan Thomas, whose work will likely play a key role in building tension and scale. Editing duties are handled by Prasanna GK, ensuring the narrative maintains pace, which is critical for thrillers of this nature.
Produced by Vineet Jain and S Lakshman Kumar, with A Venkatesh serving as co-producer, Mr X carries the weight of being both a commercial entertainer and a genre piece.
With its release date now locked, the countdown begins for a film that promises intrigue, action, and a possible thematic punch. Whether Mr X can rise above familiar tropes and deliver something distinctive will be revealed when it hits theatres on April 17.
