A joint team of Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police recovered a drone in the Nesta village of Punjab’s Amritsar, an official said on Sunday.

According to an official statement, the China-made Quadcopter was recovered from the outskirts of the Nesta village in Amritsar.

“On 12th November 2023, during morning hours, on specific information regarding the presence of a drone, a Joint search Operation was launched by BSF and Punjab Police on the outskirts of Village, Nesta of Amritsar, the official release said.

A search operation was carried out at 9:45 am and the drone was recovered from a farm field adjacent to the village Nesta, the official release stated.

On Friday too, BSF had recovered a China-made Pakistani quadcopter drone near the International Border in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district.

On the intervening night of November 3-4, BSF intercepted the movement of a suspected drone near Village Tindi Wala and recovered a Pakistani drone from a farming field in the Firozpur district of Punjab.

The recovered drone was a Quadcopter of model DJI Mavic 3 Classic, according to officials.

A six-year-old boy was mauled to death by a leopard in Lal Nagar Sipahiya village of Suhelwa forest area of Balrampur district, a forest department official said on Sunday. The Balrampur District Magistrate has ordered the forest department to catch the leopard.

Arun, the boy, had gone to a field behind his house when a leopard caught him in its jaws and fled. Hearing him screaming for help, villagers tried to chase down the animal but it disappeared in the sugarcane field, forest officials said.

A few hours later, the villagers found Arun’s body in the field. His left hand was dismembered.

Divisional Forest Officer Dr Sam Maran M, who visited the spot, on Sunday said that two teams of the forest department have been deployed to search for the leopard and two cages have been deputed by the forest department for its capture.

DM Arvind Kumar Singh said that the post mortem of the body is being conducted and as soon as the report is received, financial assistance will be given to his family.

A week ago, a leopard had taken away from the same village a three-year-old girl, whose mutilated body was found in a sugarcane field five days later. 

Ahead of Telanagana Assembly elections, workers of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Congress clashed in the poll-bound state, police said.

The incident took place in Achampet town of Nagarkurnool district at 11 pm on Saturday.

According to police, ruling party MLA Guvvala Balaraju sustained injuries during clashes and was rushed to a hospital in Hyderabad along with others.

“Congress leaders suspected that the MLA was distributing money to voters. This led to an argument. Soon there was chaos leading to clashes. A few Congress leaders tried to attack the MLA,” according to Anudeep, the circle inspector of Achampet.

Police said they are yet to register a case.

According to police, “a few Congress leaders blocked the way and tried to attack the sitting BRS MLA who had arrived in Achampet town after campaigning on Saturday evening.”

Security guards who were accompanying the MLA immediately moved him from the spot, police said.

“A car that was carrying the MLA’s videographers and social media team was destroyed,” police said.

Police said that the “attackers” suspected that the MLA belonging to chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was allegedly “carrying money in the camera bags” and “distributing it to voters”.

Telangana is scheduled to go to assembly elections on November 30 and the counting of votes, along with those of four other poll-bound states, has been scheduled for December 3.

The state is set to witness a triangular contest among the BJP, BRS, and Congress.

In the previous Assembly election in 2018, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), previously known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), won 88 of the 119 seats, hogging 47.4 per cent of the total vote share. The Congress came in a distant second with just 19 seats.
