The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Thane here has awarded a compensation of Rs 51.73 lakh to a man for the death of his wife in a road accident in 2014.

Assam Police Service officer Sandipan Garg, cousin of the late singer Zubeen Garg, has been apprehended by the CID in connection with the singer’s Singapore death. Garg, reportedly present during the incident, was detained after extensive questioning. He is expected in court today as the investigation intensifies, with authorities keeping further details confidential.

“There is a political element — many pharma companies have political backing. If politicians are involved, drug regulators in those states won’t be able to manage,” he said.
