Is DWTS Alum Artem Chigvintsev Facing Criminal Charges For His Domestic Violence Arrest? Here’s What We Know

Artem Chigvintsev‘s case following his domestic violence has taken a new turn. As per reports, the Dancing With The Stars alum will not be facing any criminal charges after his arrest in an alleged domestic violence case.

On September 24, 2024, Allison Haley, who is the Napa County District Attorney, announced that her office has come to a decision to decline to file criminal charges against the Russian-born dancer.

While Chigvintsev was arrested in the month of August, the released press note read that the recently announced decision was made after the attorney’s team had done a “thorough review of the criminal investigation.”

As per Allison Haley, the team had even investigated the evidence in this case. The attorney had also stated in the press release that while every arrest is taken seriously with a strict policy against the crime of domestic violence, he is obligated to file charges only when they have solid proof and evidence.

“We are required to prove any and every criminal charge ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’ which is the highest standard in the American criminal justice system,” the press release read.

Further in her release, Haley went on to add that if the evidence available doesn’t reach this level of proof, then the attorneys cannot file charges.

Allison Haley also cleared that although Artem Chingvintsev will not be booked under criminal charges for now, the attorney would revisit the case in the future if they come across any new knowledge of incidents, facts, or evidence.

It was back in the month of August that the former DWTS celebrity was arrested on a charge of corporal injury to a spouse. The incident had happened right two days after he and his spouse, Nikki Garcia, had celebrated their second wedding anniversary.

Although Garcia has not been named in this case, a report by PEOPLE suggests that the WWE fame is the spouse in discussion. Back in August, before his arrest, Chigvintsev had made a 911 call alleging that the Total Divas alum was throwing shoes at him.

Garcia later filed for divorce, following Chigvintsev’s arrest. Artem Chigvintsev and Nikki Garcia met in 2017 when they were paired together on season 25 of Dancing With The Stars. They welcomed their only son Matteo in July 2020, and as per court documents, reported by the outlet, the two had tied the knot recently in 2023.

WATCH: Pawan Kalyan performs purification ritual at Kanaka Durga Temple amid Tirumala Laddu adulteration controversy; video goes viral

Pawan Kalyan had earlier arrived at the Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada to atone for the alleged use of animal fat in Tirupati laddu prasadam. He even began a purification ritual on Tuesday morning as a part of his 11-day Prayaschitta Diksha. Now, a video of Pawan Kalyan from the purification ritual is going viral on social media.

In the video, the OG actor can be seen performing the ritual at the temple accompanied by several others. As soon as he begins the practice, a huge crowd gathers around to witness the moment.

Soon after, Pawan Kalyan addressed the media and said, “I am deeply hurt on a personal level by the malicious attempts made to infuse impurity in the prasad of Sri Tirupati Balaji Dham, the center of our culture, faith, belief and devotion, and to tell you the truth, I feel cheated from within. “

He further added, “I am taking a vow to seek forgiveness from the Lord and am taking a vow to fast for eleven days. In the latter part of the eleven-day Atonement Initiation, on October 1 and 2, I will go to Tirupati and have a personal darshan of the Lord and beg for forgiveness and then my Atonement Initiation will be completed in front of the Lord.”

Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan will walk to Tirumala through the Alipiri route on October 1. Following this, he will mark the culmination of his 11-day Prayaschitta Diksha. The actor will further seek blessings from the Lord at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple on October 2. Following that, he will conclude the Diksha by addressing the Varahi Sabha on October 3 in Tirupati.

Meanwhile, the 11-day atonement by Pawan Kalyan comes after the discovery of adulterated products in the Tirumala laddu, which is considered as a sacred offering to the devotees. According to reports, a Gujarat-based laboratory confirmed that animal fat was also used in the preparation of the prasadam.

“Can’t Call Any Part Of India Pakistan”: Chief Justice On Judge’s Remarks

The Supreme Court today closed proceedings against Karnataka High Court Judge Justice Vedavyasachar Srishananda, following his public apology for controversial comments made during court sessions. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, leading a five-judge bench, stated that the decision was made in the interest of justice and the dignity of the judiciary.

Justice Srishananda, while addressing a landlord-tenant dispute, referred to a Muslim-majority area in Bengaluru as “Pakistan” and made a misogynistic comment involving a woman lawyer. His comments, which went viral on social media, prompted the Supreme Court to seek a report from the Karnataka High Court, which was submitted shortly after the incident.

“No one can call any part of territory of India as Pakistan,” Chief Justice Chandrachud said. “It is fundamentally against the territorial integrity of the nation. The answer to sunlight is more sunlight and not to suppress what happens in court. The answer is not to close it down.”

The Supreme Court had taken up the case on its own and had sought a report from the Karnataka High Court over the controversial remarks. A five-judge bench led by CJI Chandrachud, along with Justices S Khanna, B R Gavai, S Kant, and H Roy, had on September 20 expressed the need for establishing clear guidelines for constitutional court judges regarding their remarks in court.

“Casual observational may indicate personal biases especially when perceived to be directed at a certain gender or community. Thus one must be wary of making patriarchal or misogynistic comments. We express our serious concern about observations on a certain gender or a community and such observations are liable to be construed in a negative light. We hope and trust that the responsibilities entrusted to all stakeholders are discharged without bias and caution,” CJI Chandrachud said today.

The Supreme Court bench said that when social media plays an active role in monitoring and amplifying courtroom proceedings, there is an urgency to ensure judicial commentary aligns with the decorum expected from courts of law.

Videos of Justice Srishanananda were viral on social media.

In one video, he refers to a Muslim-dominated locality in Bengaluru as “Pakistan” and in another video he was seen making objectionable comments against a woman lawyer. In the second incident, Justice Srishanananda can be heard telling the woman lawyer that she seemed to know a lot about the “opposition party”, so much so that she might be able to reveal the colour of their undergarments.
