Ash clouds from an Ethiopian volcanic eruption are clearing Indian skies by Tuesday evening, having drifted across northwest India since Monday. The plume, originating from the Hayli Gubbi volcano, moved across the Red Sea and Arabian Sea before impacting Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Delhi-NCR, Haryana, and Punjab, briefly affecting flight operations.

The newly surfaced audio reportedly continues from an earlier clip that sparked controversy and led to Mamkootathil’s suspension from Congress party.

A remote Ethiopian volcano, dormant for millennia, erupted violently, spewing ash 15km high and darkening skies. Locals described the blast as a “bomb of smoke and ash.” While no lives were lost, the eruption has severely impacted livestock-herding communities, with ash covering grazing lands and threatening livelihoods. The event has caused widespread shock due to its unprecedented nature.
