Luv Ranjan Shares a Major Update on Sourav Gangulys Biopic
Luv Ranjan has recently opened up about director Sourav Ganguly’s biopic. During an interview with Pinkvilla, he shared about the possible timeline of the movie to be in production and later release. While discussing his next slate of releases, Luv Ranjan has shared that Sourav Ganguly’s biopic will go on floors soon.
At the interview, he opened up on the tentative date of the biopic to go on floors. Luv Ranjan quipped that they are looking at March 2026. He has also shared that it is an early update on the production schedule. Interestingly, he did not provide any other information on the project.
Moneycontrol had previously shared that the biopic will explore the ace cricketer’s career, including his time as the captain of the Indian team. The filming was reportedly slated to begin in Kolkata, with Rajkummar Rao being considered as the lead. The actor was reportedly extensively preparing for the part. Interestingly, he was also studying left-handed batting.
During the same interview with Pinkvilla, Luv Ranjan also opened up about his distinct style of filmmaking while talking about his future projects. He noted, “When I started in this industry, it was not like I decided that I was going to be a filmmaker who would have a signature with quirky rom-coms. Sometimes, what happens is that you can’t determine your journey. You set out to do something and your journey takes form.”
Lately, he is busy with the promotions of the movie Vadh 2. It is slated to release on February 6, 2026. It stars Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta in the leading roles. The film has been directed by Jaspal Singh Sandhu and produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg under Luv Films.
