Ever since SS Rajamouli has unveiled the title of his upcoming film as Varanasi, the buzz has reached fever pitch. While fans and trade have been raving about the opulence and the grand VFX in the Varanasi glimpse video, the film’s title has also been a constant source of contention.
The buzz surrounding the globe-trotting epic Varanasi has just gotten bigger. A production house Rama Bhakta Hanuma Creations had reportedly registered the title “Vaaranasi…” long before Rajamouli made the announcement. The production house apparently approached the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) and registered a complaint against Rajamouli’s film title. Although the spelling of Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s film is ‘Varanasi,’ the Chamber felt that Rajamouli can’t use the title (under TFCC regulations) because it was sounding similar to that of ‘Vaaranasi’ which was already registered by Rama Bhakta Hanuma Creations. According to grapevine, both the parties have reportedly settled the issue amicably. In an attempt to settle the disagreement harmoniously, buzz is that director Rajamouli agreed to tweak the title. Instead of Varanasi, he renamed it to Rajamouli’s Varanasi. It’ll be interesting to see how the new title will appear in the film’s subsequent promotional activities.
Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran recently wrapped the climax portion of shooting for Rajamouli’s Varanasi in Hyderabad. After having wrapped up a lengthy schedule for the action adventure, the principal cast decided to take a break from the shooting. While fans are trying to decode various VFX aspects that went into the title video glimpse that was released recently, Mahesh Babu went on a holiday. The superstar, wife Namrata and daughter Sithara were spotted at the Hyderabad airport on Saturday leaving for an overseas vacation. Priyanka Chopra too left for Los Angeles and is expected to join the film sets in mid-December.

Vicky Kaushal’s father Sham Kaushal is one of the renowned action choreographers in Indian cinema. Over the years, his work as a stunt master isn’t just confined to Hindi cinema but also in the south. Acclaimed for his work in some of the blockbuster films like Wasseypur, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, PK, Dangal and Padmaavat among many, Sham Kaushal is now set to collaborate with Ram Charan for the actor’s upcoming film, Peddi.
The makers of Ram Charan-starrer Peddi are geared to commence an action sequence in the film’s new schedule. The team is presently filming a high-octane action episode on Charan and other fighters in a specially constructed massive set at the Aluminium Factory in Hyderabad. Kannada Superstar Shiva Rajkumar, who plays a significant role in the film, is also participating in the shoot. The action block will be one of the highlights in the rustic drama. Sham Kaushal is supervising the high-intensity action sequence while Navakanth (of Pushpa fame) serves as the stunt master. According to sources, the makers roped in Sham Kaushal because of the magnitude of the sequence, and its timing in the narrative. The director stated that Peddi has fantastic action episodes, and each sequence is crafted with a unique concept.
Sham Kaushal is a renowned name in South too. He worked as stunt coordinator for a 1992 Malayalam film Yodha. Some of his notable works include working as action choreographer for films like Pawan Kalyan-starrer Panjaa (2010), Maamaankam (2019) and Wild Dog (2021), starring Nagarjuna. For Peddi, director Buchi Babu Sana doesn’t want to leave anything to chance, he is mounting the action sequences on a massive scale. He believed that someone of Sham’s calibre and experience can do justice to the intense action choreography and collaborated with him.
