A man has been arrested after he took 17 children hostage in Mumbai on Thursday.

A Turkish disaster response team is still waiting by the Gaza border for Israeli approval to enter the Palestinian territory to help with search and rescue operations, a defence ministry source said Thursday.

Young actor aspirants were held hostage at a Mumbai studio by a self-proclaimed filmmaker demanding to speak to certain individuals. Police successfully stormed the studio, rescuing 19 hostages, including 17 children, and apprehending the suspect. The motive is believed to be work-related dues, with the suspect appearing mentally unstable.
