BJP has become the single largest party in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi after three AAP councillors defected to join them. This move increases BJP’s strength to 116 from AAP’s 114, positioning BJP favorably for the upcoming mayoral elections in April. The anti-defection law does not apply to MCD.

At least 15 people have lost their lives and several others were injured in a stampede at New Delhi Railway Station during rush for a special train for the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed their grief. A high-level investigation has been ordered.
