‘People Can Get Really Tired’: Barry Keoghan Responds To ‘Deadbeat Dad’ Claims And Talks About Avoiding Weird Roles

Irish actor Barry Keoghan recently opened up about personal struggles and professional choices on The Louis Theroux Podcast. The star of films like The Banshees of Inisherin and The Batman addressed the hurtful accusations of being a deadbeat dad, talked about his approach to acting, and reflected on his challenging past. The podcast episode, featuring Keoghan, is available on Spotify from November 5.

During his conversation with Louis Theroux, Keoghan spoke about the impact of public scrutiny on his role as a father. “I’m not an absent father,” he stated, stating how people often weaponize his relationship with his son. “People love to use my son as ammunition.”

He shares a son with his former partner, Alyson Kierans, and was reportedly dating American singer Sabrina Carpenter. Keoghan talked about the toll that online accusations can take, saying, “Of course, [his childhood is] going to affect me being a father when I had no blueprint to take from.”

He expressed his frustration with critics who label him as lazy or negligent. Keoghan also noted that his decision to limit sharing details about his child online has led to negative assumptions. “I don’t think it’s fair to put my child online,” he said.

“And because I reigned that in, people draw a narrative and go, ‘Absent father, shit, deadbeat dad,’ and more disgusting things I wouldn’t even repeat. Just the audacity of some people, man. It sickens me, makes me furious.”

Keoghan reflected on the harsh realities of being in the public eye. He mentioned the distressing comments about his appearance on social media. He said that it’s sad to kind of pick someone’s appearance apart, especially on TikTok as well, acknowledging the impact of social media on mental health.

He added that people can sit there and make videos and be like, I don’t like his face, he looks weird, or he looks evil and just picks you apart. Fortunately, Keoghan feels he has developed tough skin to deal with such criticism.

Keoghan also discussed his approach to acting, stating he does not seek out roles that depict evil characters. “I don’t search or seek out roles that have a demeanor of being evil,” he stated. “I just want to show range and get to play different parts with the directors I love.”

He mentioned wanting to distance himself from unconventional roles. “But yeah, I do want to get away from the weird parts,” he said. He admires actors like Daniel Day-Lewis and Christian Bale, who are selective about their roles.

“People can get really tired of seeing your face,” he said. He added that when you look at the actors like Daniel Day-Lewis and Christian Bale, they don’t show up for everything, and they pick up parts quite cautiously.

Keoghan also shared insights about his challenging upbringing, which included living in foster care and coping with his mother’s struggles with addiction. He recounted the experience of moving between 13 different families.

“You don’t forget waiting on the social worker steps and waiting for the new family to come,” he recalled. He said he remembers being excited to see if it’s going to work and then go with them to a whole new area and a whole new home.

Throwback: The Strange Rule That Kept Mel Gibson Away From Richard Gere And Denzel Washington

Mel Gibson has long been one of Hollywood’s most controversial figures. Known for his roles in Mad Max, Lethal Weapon, and Braveheart, Gibson has a complicated history, both on and off the screen. While his reputation has taken hits over the years due to various controversies, there are some lesser-known stories from his time in Hollywood that continue to intrigue fans.

One such story involves the peculiar rules set by his longtime agent, Ed Limato, which kept Gibson from ever being in the same room as fellow actors Richard Gere and Denzel Washington.

Mel Gibson’s career in the 1980s and 1990s was marked by significant success. During this time, his talent agent, Ed Limato, played a crucial role in shaping his Hollywood journey. Limato was a renowned agent, known for managing some of the biggest names in the industry.

Among his A-list clients were not only Gibson but also Richard Gere and Denzel Washington. However, Limato had a rather unusual rule: he would not allow these three stars to be in the same room together.

Gibson himself spoke about this rule years after Limato’s passing. In an interview with Access Hollywood, he stated, “[Washington] and Richard Gere and I had the same agent, and the agent would never let us all be in the same room at the same time.” This strict separation had nothing to do with the actors personally but was related to Limato’s business approach.

Limato had his reasons for imposing this rule. As Gibson described, it was part of Limato’s way of managing his top-tier clients. “It had something to do with [Limato’s] business,” Gibson said. Limato wanted each of his clients to feel like they were his top priority.

This meant avoiding any situation where two or more of these major stars could compare notes or feel a sense of rivalry. According to Gibson, when visiting Limato’s house, there were other measures taken to boost each actor’s ego.

Limato would rearrange picture frames to highlight whoever was visiting. “When you’d come over his house, he’d change the picture frames from the back to the front to make it look like you were the most important,” Gibson recalled.

One reason for the separation was that Gibson, Gere, and Washington often competed for the same roles. The three actors were in high demand during the peak of their fame, and they had overlapping appeal when it came to casting directors.

While Gibson didn’t share details about specific roles they all wanted, it’s clear that this competition influenced Limato’s decision to keep them apart. The aim was to prevent any unnecessary tension or awkward encounters that might have impacted their careers.

Years later, after Limato passed away in 2010 following a battle with emphysema, Gibson, Gere, and Washington finally had the chance to come together. The three actors gathered to honor their late agent. Gibson shared that it was the first time they had all been in the same room.

Reflecting on that rare meeting, he said, “We toasted to [Limato] and had a great time.” This reunion was a chance for the actors to reminisce and share memories, finally setting aside the professional rivalry that had once kept them apart.

Kartik Aaryan REVEALS being single due to ‘strict athlete lifestyle’ for 2 years for Chandu Champion: ‘Don’t have to send my live location to …’

Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan has been making headlines for his stellar performances in recent films. He recently addressed dating rumors, revealing that he is single because he has been living a strict athlete’s lifestyle for two years while preparing for Chandu Champion. He humorously noted that he doesn’t have to send his ‘live location’ to anyone.

During a conversation with Mashable India, Kartik Aaryan shared that he’s been fully immersed in his role preparation for Chandu Champion, leaving no room for relationships or dating apps. Living a strict, athlete-like lifestyle for the film’s demands, he mentioned that he hasn’t had the time to focus on a personal life, embracing the freedom of singlehood as he dedicates himself entirely to his craft.

He said, “I am single. I don’t have to send my live location to anyone. I am not even present in any dating applications. Technically, since the time I have been preparing and shooting for Chandu Champion, I didn’t get the time.”

The actor further explained that his preparation for Chandu Champion involved an intense, disciplined routine that demanded his full attention. For two years, he followed a strict regime that required precise tracking of his gym sessions, diet, and sleep patterns, mirroring the lifestyle of a professional athlete.

Additionally, he took on the challenge of learning to swim for the first time, adding to the physical demands. Balancing this with the filming of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which had its own tight schedule, left Kartik fully occupied and focused, with little time for anything outside his career.

Kartik Aaryan received acclaim for his performance in Kabir Khan’s Chandu Champion, where he portrayed Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympics gold medalist. For this transformative role, he underwent a significant physical change, relying solely on natural training methods without any artificial supplements.

His fitness trainer, Tridev Pandey, told Wion that their regimen focused on overall fitness rather than just muscle building. This included one-hour skill sessions paired with one-hour drills that encompassed boxing techniques and various exercises like handstand push-ups, headstands, skipping rope, and rope climbs. He emphasized that achieving an aesthetic body requires hard work and teamwork.

On the work front, Kartik Aaryan was recently seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, sharing the screen with Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film is currently enjoying a successful run in theaters.
