A retired lawyer in Panama fatally shot two environmental protesters during a demonstration on the Pan-American highway. Kenneth Darlington, 77, was captured on camera engaging in a heated argument with the demonstrators before pulling out a gun and opening fire. The victims were teachers Abdiel Díaz and Iván Rodríguez. Darlington, who has a prior conviction for illegal possession of a firearm, is facing charges of murder and illegal possession of a gun. The incident occurred during ongoing protests against a mining contract.
