‘Thought I Was Going To…’: Gordon Ramsay Opens Up About Bike Accident That Left Him Severely Injured

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is opening up about the terrifying bike accident that left him severely injured earlier this year. After months of recovery, Ramsay shared the full story of what caused the crash during an interview with Men’s Health, revealing how a seemingly ordinary ride turned into a harrowing experience.

The Accident’s Cause and Immediate Aftermath

Ramsay explained that he was cycling when he hit a “crater-like pothole” that caused his bike to spin 180 degrees, launching him off and leaving him bloodied and disoriented. The impact cracked his helmet and left him with blurry vision. Although he attempted to continue his ride, Ramsay quickly realized the severity of his injuries and called his assistant, who directed an ambulance to his location. Fortunately, CT scans confirmed he hadn’t broken any bones, but the incident left him in need of medical care and ongoing treatment.

The Road to Recovery

Following the accident, Ramsay underwent daily lymphatic drainage treatments and physiotherapy as he dealt with significant bruising and mobility issues. Reflecting on the challenging recovery process, he shared how he relied on his assistant, Justin Mandel, to help him dress, describing the experience as both painful and humbling. Ramsay also took to Instagram on Father’s Day to talk about the accident, calling himself “lucky to be here” and showing off his massive purple bruise while reminding fans of the importance of wearing a helmet.

Though Ramsay’s bike accident was a frightening ordeal, his recovery serves as a reminder of the importance of safety precautions like wearing a helmet. While he’s still healing, the Hell’s Kitchen star remains grateful for the outcome, having avoided major injuries and broken bones. As Ramsay returns to his busy schedule, his experience is a stark warning to cyclists everywhere to stay safe, no matter how short the ride.

The GOAT Box Office Collections: Scores third highest first day in India for Thalapathy Vijay

The Greatest of All Time had an excellent start at the Indian box office, raking in Rs. 53-54 crore approx on its first day. This marks the third-highest first day ever for a Thalapathy Vijay starrer, behind Leo and Beast, and the fifth-highest for a Kollywood film. The film had a near-record start in Tamil Nadu and a strong debut in Karnataka and Kerala.

In Tamil Nadu, the film grossed Rs. 30-32 crore approx on Thursday, which is the fourth-highest first day for any film in the state. It stands behind three other Vijay films; Beast, Leo and Sarkar. In the new norms of shows starting from 9 AM, no other star film has crossed Rs. 25 crore in daily collections in Tamil Nadu. Whereas Vijay has not only crossed Rs. 25 crore but also Rs. 30 crore, twice, first with Leo last year and now with The GOAT. This shows the sort of domination Vijay holds at the Tamil Nadu box office.

Elsewhere, Karnataka recorded third highest opening day for a Tamil film just shy of Rs. 10 crore. Similarly, Kerala also had the third biggest start with Rs. 6.25 crore. The Hindi dubbed version of the film put in Rs. 2.25 crore approx, which is a decent start.

The disappointment came from the Telugu states where it collected just Rs. 3 crore approx, well short of Rs. 8 crore of Beast. Vijay made huge inroads into this territory with his recent films but here since the music and promos didn’t click, the start wasn’t up to the mark. Having said that, the Telugu states are a bonus market and the core Tamil markets of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Bengaluru have all delivered for the film.

The territorial breakdown for the first-day box collections of The GOAT is as follows:

Area
Gross

Tamil Nadu
Rs. 31.00 cr.

Karnataka
Rs. 9.75 cr.

Kerala
Rs. 6.25 cr.

APTS
Rs. 3.00 cr.

Hindi Belt
Rs. 3.50 cr.

Total
Rs. 53.50 cr.

Rajasthan’s Bureaucrat Shake-Up: 4 Women Get Key Posts, 108 Officers Shuffled

The Rajasthan government has effected a major bureaucratic reshuffle – including assigning four women with strong track records and a clean image to head critical departments, such as urban development for capital city Jaipur, which will host a major investors in early December.

The changes indicate that Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma – a surprise pick by the ruling BJP to replace Congress veteran Ashok Gehlot after last year’s election – has bedded into his new role.

The message, sources told NDTV, is that this government “is not taking timid steps”.

The changes also come after a dig by Mr Gehlot, who said the IAS officers running his Congress government were also running that of the BJP.

The ‘big four’ postings are Anandi, who will now head the Jaipur Development Authority; Arti Dogra, who is the new Chairperson of the state’s electricity discoms; Gayatri Rathore, who will take charge as Health Secretary; and Shuchi Tyagi, who will be the Transport Commissioner.

The four women take charge at crucial junctures for each government body.

The Jaipur Development Authority was raided by the state anti-corruption bureau last month, after which several officers were arrested and over 100 transferred. The JDA faces a major challenge in getting the city ready for the investors’ summit, particularly after the monsoons.

Sustained electricity supply and reliable public transportation will also be in the spotlight during the summit, underlining expectations against Ms Dogra and Ms Tyagi.

IAS officer Shuchi Tyagi is Jaipur’s new Transport Commissioner.

And, following heavy rains and flooding, fears of vector-borne diseases will mean Ms Rathore, who was earlier the Tourism Secretary, will have her hands full.

Overall, 108 IAS officers have been shuffled around, also including eight new Collectors for Jaipur, one of whom is Jitendra Soni, who received plaudits for his work during the Jalore floods and for a programme to give shoes to children in the district.

Also, the state’s Jal Jeevan Mission, which was under scrutiny over alleged financial irregularities during the previous government, has been given a new chief – Bhasker Sawant.

Among other transfers is a new Collector for Barmer – Tina Dabi, the high-profile bureaucrat whose wedding to fellow IAS officer Pradeep Gawande last year made headlines.

Ms Dabi rose to fame in 2015 as the first Dalit to top the competitive Civil Services examination. She was earlier the District Collector for Jaisalmer.
