Former BJP MP Pragya Thakur was today acquitted of all charges in the 2008 Malegaon blast case after a Mumbai court said there is no evidence to establish that the bike, allegedly used in the blast that claimed six lives, belonged to her.

Nearly 17 years after a powerful bomb tore through Maharashtra’s Malegaon, killing six people and injuring more than a hundred, a special court in Mumbai today acquitted all seven accused in the case.

A special NIA court in Mumbai acquitted all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, including Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt. Col. Shrikant Prasad Purohit, after a 17-year trial. The court cited a lack of concrete evidence, emphasizing that suspicion alone is insufficient for conviction.
