Throwback: When Srinidhi Shetty commented on her ‘five minutes’ screen time in Yash’s KGF Chapter 1

Srinidhi Shetty rose to fame with her stint in Yash starrer KGF Chapter 1 in 2018, followed by its sequel KGF Chapter 2 in 2022. However, despite being a reputed model, her debut stint in acting with the Prashanth Neel directorial was far from being massive, as she only had a screen time of five minutes in the first part. In one of her older interviews with OTT play, the actress commented on the same.

Talking about the minimal attention she got during the trailer launch event for KGF 2, Srinidhi Shetty mentioned how due to her fleeting presence in the first installment, people thought it would be the same in the second part as well.

She further added, “As far as KGF was concerned, I knew my character arc- start, mid and end. When the team started shooting, they realized that the scale of the film was so large that they had to split it into two parts and in doing so, my character had pretty much nothing to do in part 1. It was all about the introduction of the hero and the other characters. Eventually, my character, Reena, barely got five minutes, but Prashant assured me that I had nothing to worry.”

Moving on, she expressed trusting the assurances of Prashanth Neel, who confirmed that she would have a better and important role in KGF 2, and so she was more than willing to wait for her turn.

However, this wait turned out to be too long for about three years, since KGF 2 was pushed back during the outbreak of Covid Pandemic. It was then that Srinidhi became frustrated, adding how her family too were even clueless if she would get work after all.

Srinidhi said, “The wait, though, turned out to be well over three years and this can be a little frustrating, especially, since there was also a pandemic in between that we had no control over. Even in my family, there were questions about how long I would hold on to just the one project, KGF. Why I was not doing anything else?”

Nonetheless, she mentioned holding onto her faith and putting hard work for more than six years to the project, while she could have done a lot of projects within the same time.

On the work front, Srinidhi Shetty has a plethora of exciting projects lined up, including Telusu Kada, HIT: The Third Case and Kichcha 47.

Subhash Ghai CONFIRMS Aitraaz 2, says OMG 2 director Amit Rai has ‘hit script’; reveals if sequel will deal with workplace harassment issue

Aitraaz, starring Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, and Kareena Kapoor Khan, celebrated its 20th anniversary on November 12, 2024. Now, producer Subhash Ghai has revealed plans for Aitraaz 2 with OMG 2 director Amit Rai. Ghai confirmed that Rai has a big hit script in hand, and the search for the female lead is underway. He also shared that the sequel will focus on social drama and explore bold issues related to contemporary views on sexuality.

According to the Hindustan Times, Subhash Ghai, who produced the original Aitraaz film directed by Abbas-Mustan in 2004, has brought director Amit Rai on board for the sequel.

Ghai shared that he was impressed by a compelling script from Rai, known for his work on OMG 2. He mentioned that the script has now been crafted as Aitraaz 2, and studios have shown significant interest in the project, which he described as having strong potential for success.

The original Aitraaz addressed the impactful topic of workplace sexual harassment. When asked if the sequel would explore a similar theme, Subhash explained that the subject matter is crafted by Amit Rai, who has written another bold story addressing modern views on sexuality, incorporating new values and perspectives.

Ghai noted that the film won’t just be a social drama but will include powerful and intense moments, expressing excitement about beginning the project.

The producer and filmmaker revealed that the team is currently working on finalizing the female lead for the sequel. He mentioned they have a shortlist of desired actors but have yet to make a final choice.

According to Ghai, the role will be a bold one, likely to earn accolades for the actor, much as it did for Priyanka Chopra in the original. Confident about the sequel’s potential, he added that it would surpass the impact of Aitraaz.

Original Aitraaz tackled the sensitive issue of workplace sexual harassment, a theme that had rarely been explored in Indian cinema before. Aitraaz also starred Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan in pivotal roles.

S Jaishankar Draws A Pak Parallel To Answer Question On India-Russia Ties

Known for his no-nonsense articulation of India’s position on geopolitical issues, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar had a sharp response when an Australian journalist asked him if New Delhi recognises Canberra’s “angst” over its ties with Russia.

Dr Jaishankar was speaking to Sky News Australia’s Sharri Markson in an interview during his recent visit. When Ms Markson asked him if India recognises the “angst” its relationship with Russia causes Australia, he replied, “I don’t think we have given cause for any angst. In this day and age, countries don’t have exclusive relationships.”

The minister then drew a Pakistan parallel. “If I were to use that logic, I would say so many countries have relationship with Pak. Look at the angst it should cause me,” he said.

Dr Jaishankar then proceeded to explain how India’s close ties with Russia is in the interest of the international community. Referring to Delhi’s decision to buy Russian oil despite the West and other counties sanctioning Moscow after the Ukraine war broke out, the minister said,

“If we had not made the moves we had, the energy markets would have taken a completely different turn and precipitated a global energy crisis, it would have caused inflation across the world.”

He said India’s ties with Russia enables it to play a role in bringing the conflict to the talks table. “The fact that we have a good relationship with Russia allows us to be a country in between which has the ability to talk to both Russia and Ukraine and try to find some intersection in those conversations. i think the world, including Australia, needs such a country that will help bring this conflict back to the conference table,” he said, adding, “Conflicts rarely end on battlefield, mostly they end in negotiations.”

Australia has backed Ukraine in its conflict with Russia and supplied Kyiv with weapons. When the conflict began in 2022, then Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison had said Russia should be seen as a “pariah state” and no country should have anything to do with them.

As the West imposed sanctions on Russia, India decided to continue buying oil from Moscow. This raised eyebrows and Dr Jaishankar countered the West’s questions regarding India’s decision. The former diplomat had then sharply said that Europe needs to grow out of the mindset that Europe’s problems are the world’s problems but the world’s problems are not Europe’s problems. He had said India has a right to prioritise its energy needs. Later, speaking at NDTV World Summit, Dr Jaishankar had underlined that Moscow never done anything to impact India’s interests negatively.

On the Ukraine conflict, the Narendra Modi government has refused to take sides, with the Prime Minister stressing that this is not an era of war. The Prime Minister recently travelled to both Ukraine and Russia. India, he has said, is not neutral, but on the side of peace.
