Imtiaz Ali takes responsibility for Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan starrer Love Aaj Kal’s failure; ‘The actor is not obliged to understand…’

Imtiaz Ali has recently talked about the underperformance of Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan starrer Love Aaj Kal. The sequel to the 2009 released film was released in 2020. Despite much anticipation, the film couldn’t perform well at the box office. Taking onus on himself, Amar Singh Chamkila opined maybe he couldn’t communicate well with the actors about the film’s narrative.

In a recent interview with Midday, Imtiaz Ali was asked about the poor performance of his film Love Aaj Kal, starring Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan. In his response, the actor stated that there was something very sensitive in the movie. He further recalled his English teacher telling him how she was reminded of her English classes.

The filmmaker told his teacher mentioned that young students would often agree to understand what she taught them even if they didn’t. “She said the youngsters in the film perhaps didn’t get what you were trying to say. I am not blaming Sara and Kartik. Direction is a process of working with an actor, but the actor is not obliged to understand because they have surrendered. I didn’t communicate through to all of us,” he said.

In an interview with Hindustan Times earlier this year, Imtiaz, talking about his underperforming films with Jab Harry Met Sejal and Love Aaj Kal, admitted that while making those films, he just wanted to make them. However, they couldn’t work. “All my films have had some problems in execution; [I feel] they could have been better. However, I hope people see some merit in these two films also, as some good things probably did not come through [at once],” he admitted.

The original Love Aaj Kal was released in 2009 and starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Giselli Monteiro in the lead roles. It was 11 years later the makers came up with its sequel with a fresh cast and storyline.

On the work front, Imtiaz’s last directorial was the biographical drama Amar Singh Chamkila starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra. It was based on the life of Punjab’s legendary singer, who was known for his record-breaking songs. The film was released on Netflix and received immense love from critics and audiences alike.

‘Still Younger Than Me’: Valerie Bertinelli Shares Heartfelt Birthday Wish For Boyfriend Mike Goodnough

Valerie Bertinelli, the two-time Golden Globe Awards-winning actress, recently took to her Instagram to wish her boyfriend, Mike Goodnough, on his 54th birthday. Bertinelli shared a heartwarming photo alongside her new love. Bertinelli also didn’t hesitate to address the decade of age difference in her new relationship.

On August 17, 2024, Valerie Bertinelli, 64, shared a selfie of their celebration on her Instagram where she can be seen delivering a kiss on Goodnough’s cheek. The photo was further complimented by the pretty blue sky in the background, making it a perfect selfie.

However, Bertinelli wrote quite a hilarious caption under this beautiful photo as she went ahead to wish her boyfriend a happy birthday. The actress revealed that Goodnough is not very fond of backlighting while clicking images, which contrasts with her preference.

She further joked around their age difference, stating that thanks to her preference for background lighting their selfie turned out to be great, thus, one should listen to their elders, as she referred to herself. The Hot in Cleveland star further re-emphasized that even though Goodnough has grown one year older, he will still always be younger than her.

“If there’s one thing about Mike (there are many things) he’s not fond of backlighting. I, on the other hand, think backlighting is beautiful. As evidenced by this picture…that Mike took. Sometimes it pays to listen to your elders. Happy birthday Mike ♥️ You may be another year older, but you’re still younger than me,” Bertinelli remarked.

Bertinelli celebrated Goodnough’s birthday for the first time since the couple began their relationship back in January. Bertinelli initially though was quite hideous about her new relationship and claimed to be in love without revealing her boyfriend’s name. However, she did acknowledge that she connected quite instantly with Goodnough, and shared an insane level of comfortability with him.

“It’s a seesaw of emotions because I was adamant I was never falling in love again. It was strictly platonic but there was something about him that I connected with that felt familiar. It’s crazy the comfort level. It feels incredibly right,” the actress previously stated in her conversation with PEOPLE.

The couple went publicly out with each other in April and ever since then, they have always mentioned about each other in their interviews. The duo subsequently made their red carpet debut at the Daytime Emmys. Goodnough, too, has been pretty open about his new relationship as he mentioned Valerie in his multiple Instagram posts.

With Goodnough turning 54, it seems like Bertinelli is hardly bothered about their decade of age difference. Well, it looks like Valerie Bertinelli and Mike Goodnough’s relationship is being processed pretty smoothly as the two continue to get closer to each other.

“Trusted Mamata Banerjee But…”: Father Of Murdered Doctor To NDTV

The parents of the young doctor raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College has told NDTV that they had lost trust in Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after seeing the way the police handled the case. The Central Bureau of Investigation is at least making an effort, her father told NDTV in an exclusive interview. He also said he has handed a page of his daughter’s diary to the CBI, but refused to discuss its contents.

“Early on I had full faith in her, but now no. She is asking for justice but what is she saying that for? She can take charge of that, she is doing nothing,” he said when asked about the investigation conducted by the state.

“They are saying ‘We want justice’. But those of the general public who are saying the same thing, they are trying to lock them up,” he said, without refering to the lathicharge on supporters at a football match, who raised “We want justice” slogans.  .

For the rest of the state’s residents, he also had a word of advice: “All the schemes by Mamata Banerjee – the Kanyashree scheme- the Lakshmi scheme — all pseudo. Whoever wants to avail these schemes, before availing them kindly see if your Lakshmi at home safe.”

After a 36-hour shift, the second-year postgrad had gone to an empty seminar room alone on Thursday night to get some rest. The hospital has no on-call room. Apparently she had dropped off to sleep there.

Her partially clothed body, bearing multiple injuries, was found there the next morning.

The prime suspect is Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer with Kolkata Police who was stationed at the police outpost at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and had access to all departments. He was arrested on basis of CCTV footage that showed him entering the building where the doctor was found murdered. A Bluetooth headset found next to the victim’s body was seen on his neck in the CCTV footage. It was found to be paired with his phone as well.

Local media has reported that Roy admitted to the crime soon after police started questioning him. “Hang me if you want,” he had told the police nonchalantly, the reports said.

Asked about the views that it was not once person who attacked their daughter, he said, “We have been saying that from the beginning. All the people we spoke to, even MBBS doctors. agreed thatit was not possible for one person to do as much was done to her”.

The saddest part of the whole matter, he said, was that the people who were supposed to ensure his daughter’s safety, failed to discharge their responsibility.

“As parents, we worry when our child is on the road, not so much when she reaches her workplace. Like we used to drop her to school. Once she is inside the gates, we are relieved,” he told NDTV. “Now she was grown up. The roads were a problem, so we got her a car also,” he added.
