Spanish stars dominate Indiaâs first-ever FIP Promotion India Padel Open

The final day of the FIP Promotion India Padel Open gave the audience at India’s first-ever International Padel Tournament, a glimpse of what makes Spain one of the world’s best Padel-playing countries. The finals of the CUPRA FIP Promotion India Padel Open witnessed thrilling encounters as Spain’s Pol Alsina – Edu Altimires Ros and Ainize Santamaria Landa – Aitana Solan Domenech walked away with the winner’s trophy in the Men’s and Women’s category respectively at the Bennett University’s state of the art Padel courts.

The three-day Padel tournament was hosted at The Times Group-owned Bennett University while the event was organized by Padel League Private Limited (a subsidiary of PTL Sports Group) with support from The Times Group. Gracing the gripping finals with their presence were Mr. Vineet Jain, Chancellor, Bennett University & MD, The Times Group along with Mr. Aditya Khanna, Tournament Director, FIP Promotion India Padel Open, Mr. Ashish Khanna, Assistant Tournament Director and Mr. Pranav Kohli, Director, Padel League Pvt. Ltd.

The day began with the women’s doubles final, the Spanish duo Ainize Santamaria Landa and Aitana Solan Domenech emerged victorious, defeating Kotomi Ozawa from Japan and Elisabeth Nogueras Lorenz from Spain in an intense encounter. The Spaniards displayed impeccable teamwork and precision to secure the championship title with a scoreline of 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.

The men’s doubles final was an equally gripping contest as Pol Alsina and Edu Altimires Ros from Spain overcame the French Duo Arthur Hugounenq and Thomas Seux to clinch the title. The Spanish duo showcased their dominance with a commanding performance, sealing the match with a scoreline of 6-4, 7-5.

Over the past three days, the tournament has seen some high-octane action, with players from across the globe competing fiercely for the top honors. The finals were telecast LIVE on Zoom TV and live-streamed on FIP’s YouTube Channel, ensuring fans worldwide could witness the culmination of this historic event.

The FIP Promotion India Padel Open has not only brought Padel to the forefront in India but also set the stage for the sport’s growth in the country. The event successfully highlighted the potential of Padel as a mainstream sport, inspiring athletes and fans alike.

FIP Promotion India Padel Open all set for electrifying Finals

The penultimate day of the FIP Promotion India Padel Open saw the Spanish duos of Ainize Santamaria Landa – Aitana Solan Domenech and Pol Alsina – Edu Altimires Ros stamp their authority by making their way into the men’s and women’s doubles category at India’s first ever international Padel Tournament. Facing the Spaniads in both the men’s and women’s category will be Kotomi Ozawa (Japan) – Elisabeth Nogueras Lorenz (Spain) and Arthur Hugounenq – Thomas Seux (France) respectively. The Finals slated for 24th November will be played at the state of the art Padel courts of Bennett University from 3 PM onwards.The three day tournament is organized by Padel League Private Limited (a subsidiary of PTL Sports Group) with support from The Times Group.
The Finals on November 24 will be telecast LIVE on Zoom TV and live-streamed on FIP’s YouTube Channel.

Day 3 at the FIP Promotion India Padel Open delivered high-octane quarterfinal and semifinal clashes, with standout performances on Center Court and beyond. The semifinals saw some intense play in the women’s category with Spain’s Ainize S. Landa and Aitana Domenech cruising past the Indo-Irani duo of Tulsi Mehta and Banafsheh Shahpar in straight sets of 6-0, 6-0, while the second semi finals in the women’s category saw Japan’s Kotomi Ozawa and Spanish Elisabeth Nogueras Lorenz edge past Sharmada Balu and Prerana Prathap by 6-1, 6-2.
In the men’s semifinals category, the Spanish duo of Pol Alsina and Edu Altimires Ros overcame the Swedish duo of Arya Roghani and Hami Golestan by 6-4, 6-1. While, Arthur Hugounenq and Thomas Seux from France made their way to the finals with a comfortable 6-0, 6-2 win over the Indian pair of Chaitanya Shah and Vikram Shah.
Earlier, the day began with the Quarter finals round which saw some electrifying performances in both the men’s and women’s categories. In the women’s quarterfinals, Ainize Santamaria Landa and Aitana Solan Domenech from Spain secured their semi finals position with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jenai Sanghai and Vaibhavi Deshmukh from India. Sharmada Balu and Prerana Prathap from India advanced via walkover, while Tulsi Mehta (India) and Banafsheh Moradi Shahpar (Iran) eased past Mahek Advani and Navya Loshali (India) 6-0, 6-0. Kotomi Ozawa (Japan) and Elisabeth Nogueras Lorenz (Spain) clinched a similar 6-0, 6-0 win over Chaitali Narde and Staisha Buddhala (India).

In the men’s quarterfinals, Pol Alsina and Edu Altimires Ros (Spain) outplayed compatriots Sergi Guimet Bigas and Joel Olivera Palaos 6-4, 6-1. Chaitanya Shah and Vikram Shah (India) edged past Aryan Goveas and Rahul Motwani (India) in a nail-biting 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 win, while Arya Roghani (Iran) and Hami Golestan (Sweden) beat Mohit Dahiya (India) and Marc Bernils Garcia (Spain) 6-4, 6-3. Arthur Hugounenq and Thomas Seux (France) continued their dominant run, defeating Arjun Uppal and Rishi Kapur (India) 6-0, 6-0.
Day 4 of the FIP Promotion India Padel Open culminates in a thrilling finale with the tournament’s top teams battling for glory. The women’s final features Ainize Santamaria Landa and Aitana Solan Domenech (Spain) against Kotomi Ozawa (Japan) and Elisabeth Nogueras Lorenz (Spain), promising a clash of skill and strategy. In the men’s final, Pol Alsina and Edu Altimires Ros (Spain) face the French powerhouse duo Arthur Hugounenq and Thomas Seux in what is set to be an electrifying encounter.
