UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Friday announced plans to introduce free digital ID for both nationals and those residing in the country in a bid to curb illegal migration.

Leh Police arrested activist Sonam Wangchuk following the cancellation of his NGO’s license amidst escalating tensions in Ladakh. Protests demanding statehood and Sixth Schedule safeguards turned violent, resulting in casualties and widespread unrest. Wangchuk, who was on a hunger strike, called it off after fellow protesters were hospitalized, triggering further demonstrations and clashes with security forces.

The clash took place after Islamic cleric Maulana Tauqeer Raza announced a sit-in protest at Islamia Ground on Friday over the issue of “I Love Mohammad” posters.
