The Greatest of All Time Box Office Collections: Thalapathy Vijay starrer tops 300cr worldwide with record Monday in Tamil Nadu

The Greatest of All Time had a fantastic Monday at the Tamil Nadu box office, where it recorded the highest non-holiday Monday of all time. The film grossed Rs. 13.50 crore approx on its first Monday, beating the previous record held by Vikram Rs. 11 crore. Notably, for Vikram, Monday was day four while for The GOAT it was day five. Other than these films, no other film has crossed Rs. 10 crore on a non-holiday Monday in the state.

Nationally, the film grossed Rs. 17.50 crore at the Indian box office on Monday, with a decent contribution from Karnataka and the Hindi dubbed version. Going forward, it will be Tamil Nadu driving the collections, with limited contributions from the rest of India. The five-day running total at the Indian box office stands at Rs. 180 crore. With another Rs. 123 crore from overseas, the film crossed Rs. 300 crore worldwide, becoming the second Vijay starrer to do so.

The record-breaking Monday has made reaching Rs. 200 crore in Tamil Nadu a certainty for the film. To date, only two films (PS-1 and Leo) have grossed more than Rs. 200 crore in the state, The GOAT will be third to join them in the coveted club. The film has a shot at overtaking Leo for the title of all-time grosser, but that will need strong holds for the next two weeks. The GOAT took the first step in that direction yesterday, now there are a couple of more to go.

The territorial breakdown of The GOAT at the Indian box office is as follows:

Area
Gross

Tamil Nadu
Rs. 120.75 cr.

Karnataka
Rs. 22.00 cr.

Kerala
Rs. 11.25 cr.

APTS
Rs. 10.50 cr.

Hindi Belt
Rs. 15.25 cr.

Total
Rs. 179.75 cr.

Sikandar: Kajal Aggarwal joins Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna in Sajid Nadiadwala’s film; Report

Salman Khan announced Sikandar earlier in 2024 and it has quickly become one of the most anticipated movies. Fans have been looking forward to updates from the shoot and new cast additions. It has now been learned that Kajal Aggarwal has joined Salman and Rashmika Mandanna in this Sajid Nadiadwala production.

According to a recent report by Filmfare, actress Kajal Aggarwal has come on board Sikandar. She will be joining the stellar cast of Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, and Prateik Babbar in a pivotal role. The details about her character are still under wraps.

Kajal has previously worked in some popular Hindi films like Singham and Special 26.

In July, the makers of Sikandar gave a warm welcome to Sathyaraj and Prateik Babbar. The official social media handle of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment wrote, “We’re elated to welcome you on board #Sathyaraj sir! Honored to have you in team #Sikandar. Happy to collaborate with our very own @_prat once again! And we can’t wait for everyone to experience this cinematic excellence on the big screens!”

Pinkvilla exclusively reported that Salman Khan kicked off a 45-day schedule for the film in Mumbai in August. A source close to the development stated, “Local parts of Mumbai are re-created at a big studio in Mumbai. It took over 3 months to build the entire set and the makers have spent a bomb to make all the aspects look authentic. This is one of the most important schedules of Sikandar as the team will be shooting for not just action, but also the emotional and dramatic sequences.”

The superstar has suffered a rib injury but has been shooting with full care.

In a previous update, Pinkvilla shed light on Salman’s character in the action movie. A source said, “It’s a heroic character that capitalizes on the effortless arrogance on screen. He is a Sikandar in a true sense, coming from a family of Kings and his behavior has the traits of anger and arrogance.”

Presented by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by AR Murugadoss, Sikandar is slated to arrive in theaters on Eid 2025.

“Dangerous Narrative…”: Minister Slams Rahul Gandhi’s Comment On Sikhs

“Dangerous Narrative…”: Minister Slams Rahul Gandhi’s Comment On Sikhs

Union Minister Hardeep Puri has slammed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over comments in the United States, including criticism of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and seeing the political battle with the BJP as an ideological divide over questions like “is a Sikh allowed to wear a turban (or) kada…”

In a lengthy attack Mr Puri accused Mr Gandhi of spreading a “dangerous narrative” among diaspora in the US, and for criticising the government while abroad and holding the Leader of the Opposition post.

“I think there is something far more sinister… the people in front of him (at an event in the US where Mr Gandhi was speaking) were from my community. They eke out a living in the US, and don’t have a strong connection with the country. And to them Rahulji is spreading this false narrative…” Mr Puri said.

“The other day he said, ‘there is a very large economy (referring to China) where there is no unemployment‘… sometimes he says something else. He has also let loose a diatribe against the RSS (the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the BJP’s ideological mentor) … and this is made worse because he has not gone out as a common citizen but as Leader of the Opposition.”

“And what has happened (during Mr Gandhi’s US tour)… he has attacked the legal system in India, he has attacked the outcome of the election, that the Congress’ accounts were frozen…” Mr Puri said, complaining also that Mr Gandhi neglected to mention India’s development over the past decade.

Mr Puri also ripped into Mr Gandhi’s comment about the BJP-Congress divide being about freedom of action, such as practice of religion. Mr Gandhi had referred to the practice of Sikhism and said, “The fight is not about politics. The fight is about whether a Sikh can wear his turban… it is for all religions.”

He thundered “I have been wearing a turban for over six decades and a kada for longer… and never had a problem.” He reminded Mr Gandhi the only time India’s Sikhs faced an “existential crisis” was when his family was in power, referring to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots after Indira Gandhi’s assassination.

“… if there has been one time in our history as a community we have felt anxiety, and that is too mild a term, we have felt an existential threat… it was when Rahul Gandhi’s family was in power.”

“In 1984 a pogrom was carried out against the Sikhs. Three thousand innocent people were killed… dragged out of their homes, tires were put around them, and they were burned alive.”

Mr Puri then referred to Rajiv Gandhi’s controversial “whenever a big tree falls, the earth shakes” comment and said it was “as close to a justification for targeting a minority community as I have seen”.

Manjinder Sirsa Attacks Rahul Gandhi

Hardeep Puri’s sharp attack came hours after another BJP leader, National Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa, also tore into Rahul Gandhi on the comment about Sikhs’ freedom of practice.

Mr Sirsa accused Mr Gandhi of using “hateful words” against Sikhs and said, “Your dirty politics is diving the country. You have stooped so low that you allege Sikhs in India cannot wear turbans and kada… you say Sikhs and gurdwaras are not safe in India. I condemn his words.”

“India is proud of its Sikhs. You used gurdwara, dastar or pagh (turban), kada and kripaan (the curved blade wielded by Khalsa Sikhs) to spread hate in your heart against Sikhs…” he alleged.

Rahul Gandhi’s Comment On Sikhs

Mr Gandhi, interacting with Indian diaspora an event in Virginia in the US, had stressed the fight between the BJP and the opposition, much of which had banded together under the INDIA umbrella to defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party in the Lok Sabha poll, is “ideological”.

He had also stressed this fight is “for all religions”.

He also attacked the RSS and the BJP, saying neither understands that India is for all people.

Using a plate of food, a thali, as an example, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha said, “In India everything works together…if someone says rice is more important than dal (in a thali) and vegetable are the least important, what will happen? That is what BJP does,” he said.

Mr Gandhi also said something had “changed” after the election, in which the INDIA bloc stopped the BJP from an outright majority and left it relying on the NDA to form the government.
