Riya Shibu Comes On Board Vikramâs Chiyaan 63 As Female Lead

Actor-producer Riya Shibu has officially joined the cast of Chiyaan 63, headlined by Vikram. The announcement was made by the makers on Wednesday, confirming that she will play the female lead in the upcoming Tamil film directed by Anand Shankar. This project marks Riya’s debut as a lead actor in Tamil cinema, adding a new dimension to her growing filmography.

Riya is no stranger to big-ticket ventures. She previously backed Vikram’s successful outing Veera Dheera Sooran – Part 2 under her banner HR Pictures, making this collaboration a continuation of an already established professional association. Her transition from producer to leading actor in a Vikram-starrer signals a significant step forward in her career trajectory.

The film itself has generated curiosity ever since its announcement last month. A promo video introduced Vikram in an intriguing avatar, portraying a chef who appears to be under threat from a gang. As the teaser unfolds, a voiceover hints at a dual life, suggesting that beneath the culinary exterior lies a gangster with a complex past. The premise sets the stage for a narrative that could blend action, drama and psychological tension.

A Reunion With Familiar Collaborators

Chiyaan 63 also marks a reunion between Vikram and Anand Shankar, who last worked together on Iru Mugan nearly a decade ago. Their previous collaboration was noted for its stylised storytelling and genre-bending approach, raising expectations for what this new film might offer.

Anand Shankar has penned the story, while dialogues have been written by Shan Karuppusamy. The technical crew brings together several experienced names. Santhosh Narayanan will compose the music, reuniting with Vikram after their work on Mahaan, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The cinematography will be handled by RD Rajasekar, while editing duties fall to Raymond Derrick Crasta.

The film’s visual world will be shaped by production designer Rajeevan and art director Surya Rajeevan, both of whom are known for crafting distinctive cinematic spaces. Together, the team points to a film that aims for both scale and stylistic depth.

While the core cast has begun to take shape, there are also reports suggesting that MS Bhaskar and Urvashi could join the film in key roles. However, an official confirmation is still awaited. If the reports hold true, Bhaskar’s inclusion would mark a reunion with Vikram after films like Deiva Thirumagal and Thaandavam.

Production And What Lies Ahead

Chiyaan 63 is being produced by TG Thyagarajan under the banner of Sathya Jyothi Films. Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan are also attached as producers, with G Saravanan and Sai Siddharth serving as co-producers. The project is currently in its early stages, with more details regarding the plot, genre, and extended cast expected to be revealed in the coming months.

Meanwhile, Riya Shibu is preparing for the release of her upcoming film Athiradi, which is slated to hit screens on May 15. She previously gained recognition for her performance in Sarvam Maya, directed by Akhil Sathyan, and has steadily built a presence both in front of and behind the camera.

With a compelling premise, a strong technical team and an interesting new pairing at its centre, Chiyaan 63 is shaping up to be one of the more anticipated Tamil projects currently in development.
