The sacred Tirupati laddu, offered at Lord Venkateswara’s shrine in Andhra Pradesh, is facing quality issues after lab tests revealed foreign fats in the ghee. This discovery led to a change in suppliers and an inquiry by the state government. The laddus have been a significant part of temple offerings since 1715.

The Supreme Court admonished the CBI for attempting to transfer West Bengal post-poll violence cases, arguing that there is a ‘hostile environment’ in state courts. The court noted that disliking a state does not permit casting aspersions on its judiciary. The CBI retracted its application, admitting it was poorly drafted. Several incidents of violence were reported at various places after the announcement of the assembly poll results on May 2, 2021.
