As Bridgerton gears up for its highly anticipated fourth season, all eyes are on Benedict Bridgerton and his romantic arc with Sophie Baek. In an exclusive conversation with Filmfare, Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha opened up about character growth, personal anxieties and what makes Season 4 a turning point for the fan-favourite series.
For Yerin Ha, stepping into the Bridgerton universe as Sophie came with understandable nerves. Joining a cast that has already built years of chemistry and off-screen friendships can be daunting, something the actor acknowledged. “The fear of it before you’re there is a lot louder, but then when you’re in it, it’s actually fine. At least with this group of people anyways,” she shared. Yerin admitted she was worried about disrupting the dynamic, adding, “I was nervous and I didn’t want to feel like I was breaking up the group or like slotting myself in.”
However, her concerns quickly melted away once filming began. “Luckily everyone did welcome me with open arms, and they were so gracious and felt like they almost wanted new energy and new people and universe,” she said, emphasising how supported she felt on set. When asked who helped her settle in first, Yerin smiled and pointed to her co-star, “This guy.” Luke jokingly responded, “Because I had to. Didn’t have any choice.”
Luke Thompson, meanwhile, offered insight into Benedict Bridgerton’s evolving mindset in Season 4. Everyone knows, he is known for his artistic spirit and resistance to societal expectations. Now, Benedict finds himself at a crossroads. “Maybe all his life, he’s seen it exactly as what you say, duty, and as a sort of negative thing. He’s seen it as a sort of burden to try and dodge or steer clear of,” Luke explained.
Season 4, however, challenges that outlook. “I think the venture that he goes on this season is about slowly realising that there’s huge value and meaning and excitement to fulfilling some sort of duty,” he said. “I mean, it’s not really duty, is it? But it is commitment… really taking something seriously and facing life down the barrel a little bit.”
The fourth season of Bridgerton will premiere in two batches – Part 1 on January 29 and Part 2 on February 26, 2026.
