Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan is known for her straightforward attitude and never hesitates to express her thoughts or opinions. A notable instance of this occurred when she told Karan Johar about a filmmaker and their movie that no matter what anyone says they made a very bad film.  

During one of his episodes of Koffee with Karan, KJo shared with Abhishek and Shweta about Jaya Bachchan. He stated, “Your mother, whom I think speaks her mind, is truly one of a kind in the business. I remember her telling a filmmaker, though I will not mention the name, that no matter what anyone says to you, you have made a very bad film.”

Meanwhile, in terms of her professional work, Jaya was last seen in KJo’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, where she portrayed the strict matriarch of a wealthy business family who is hard to please. Karan clarified that her character, Dhanlakshmi Randhawa, is not a reflection of her real-life personality.

In an old chat with Mid Day, Johar noted that Jaya, whom he affectionately calls “Aunty J,” is quite different from public perception, describing her as the kindest, warmest, and most generous person he knows. He mentioned that if you asked his crew who their favorite person on set was, they would all say Jaya Bachchan.

Karan pointed out that she took the time to remember the names of all 14 assistant directors, as well as details about their lives and families. When she noticed a crew member working too hard, she would send them samosas, sweets, or even bring a cake to set, earning the affection of everyone around her.

Karan also emphasized that Jaya has a strong aversion to the invasion of her privacy, but not necessarily to paparazzi. He added that she does not hold back and is not at all like her character in the film.

He explained that he wanted to cast her in a role that diverged from her previous work, noting that she had never played an antagonist or a character with moral ambiguity. Traditionally, she has been cast as the lovable mother or the innocent girl, so he aimed to cast her in a way that was different from her usual roles.

Saturday Night Live Season 50 kicked off with a special nod to Brat mother Charli XCX in a hilarious skit dedicated to this summer’s biggest trend. Bowen Yang impersonated the Apple singer on a fictional talk show called The Talk Talk Show – inspired by one of her songs. The talk show sketch also featured Sarah Sherman, Jean Smart, Chloe Fineman, and Ego Nwodim.

In the skit, Yang brought in Sarah Sherman as Troye Sivan, who is out on the road with Charli for their Sweat Tour. Sherman comedically raised her shirt to show off faux abs letting a chuckle escape. There was even a game in which they made fun of current events as being either ‘Brat or Nat.’

After making sure that the audience understood the meaning of ‘brat’, Yang played a fun game called “Brat or Nat,” where he judged the latest events and placed them under the respective moniker. The game referred to all election events and things in pop culture labeling them as either brat or nat. Among the examples would be – Hunter Biden’s laptop (brat), or Mark Robinson’s search history (nat). 

Barron Trump’s choice to enroll in NYU also attracted a ‘brat’ moniker, which was in contradiction to the school which itself was rated ‘nat’. The skit also rated Amy Adams’ character in Nightbitch as ‘brat’ and NYC mayor Eric Adams who is indicted as ‘nat’.

As Saturday Night Live (SNL) prepares to celebrate its 50th season, two of its most iconic figures, Will Ferrell and Harper Steele, recall on their experience on the show.

While both contributed to some of the most iconic moments in SNL history, one sketch stands out, but not for the reasons you may expect. In a recent interview, Ferrell and Steele stated that their sketch Unicorn Mountain was never aired, although it is still a fan favorite that they consider a missed opportunity.

Will Ferrell, a former SNL cast member, and Harper Steele, a writer and now head writer, spoke with PEOPLE about their greatest behind the scenes moments and sketches that never made it to the stage. One that struck out was Unicorn Mountain, a sketch the two worked on together while on the show.

“We wrote a sketch together called ‘Unicorn Mountain,'” Steele said. “It was a funny game that we would play where I would write half the sketch and give him the other half.”
