When Calls the Heart Star Mamie Laverock’s Family Gives Health Update Post Her Hospitalization; See Here

Mamie Laverock is safe and sound after that tragic balcony fall that made her viral. The When Calls the Heart star’s family revealed the wonderful news on their Facebook account on Monday that Mamie is finally home after three months of the accident.

“Dreams do come true. Welcome Home Mamie,” the post read.

They posted pictures of her cheerful welcome with rain balloons and a home-baked rainbow cake with a Home Sweet Home tag. They also found out that though still in critical condition with serious injuries, she will be taken home to be taken care of from now on.

In May this year, the actress was hospitalized after a tragic fall from a five stories balcony for unknown reasons. The injuries were severe, and she even stated that they were life-threatening and left her body shattered. She has been through several major surgeries and has been on life support since then. Details regarding the loss and dismay her family has encountered during this extremely difficult period were outlined, and a GoFundMe page was created to help raise money for her continuous medical treatment.

“She sustained life-threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries, and is currently on life support,” the GoFundMe page devoted to her care explained. “We are all devastated, in shock, at this intensely difficult time.”

Mamie’s mother Nicole Rockmann has vowed to take action against the hospital as she stated in a June interview with the Los Angeles Times that she is going to sue the hospital. “We have a case,” she said, stressing that all they are concerned with is Mamie’s health, her desire to live, and her spirit.

“All we care about is that Mamie can make a recovery and that she’s alive and that she’s fighting and that she’s strong.”

On a much happier note, earlier in the month, Mamie walked for the first time after the terrible accident, which is a very encouraging sign on her path to getting better.

When Mamie got to those first steps, she stated feeling very weird and very wobbly as she required the services of a walker to get around.

Mamie, a star of Hallmark, who is most famous for When Calls the Heart, has had her co-stars stand up for her. Erin Krakow; one of her co-stars, conveyed the same worry in June. “We’ve been in touch and we are wishing her all the best,” the 39-year-old said adding, “She’s such a great girl and I hope it’s just the speediest recovery.”

Salman Khan’s dad Salim Khan recalls moving to Mumbai in ‘half room’ with Rs 55 rent: ‘Thodi si paiso ya job ki pareshaani toh…’

Prime Video’s much-awaited docu-series Angry Young Men has started to premiere shedding light on the lives of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. In one of the heartwarming revelations made on the show, Salman Khan’s dad has looked back at the time when he first moved to Mumbai and used to live at Marine Drive’s Marina Guest House in a Rs 55 rented room.

“I used to pay Rs 55 rent per month for half a room,” revealed Salim Khan adding that he initially wanted to rent the entire room for Rs 110 but that wish was never fulfilled. The actor-turned-writer had quite a comfortable life back in his home town Indore but he says ‘he had no choice’ but to move out for his aspirations.

Khan continued, “When I was leaving for Mumbai, my eldest brother told me this is not required, you’ll come running back… I didn’t want to ask for money from home, so I struggled.” This was the same time when the veteran screenwriter met the love of his life Salma Khan who was just 17 years old.

Salim Khan, then 24, recalled that Salma used to live at Mahim’s Regi House building, and “It started with us exchanging glances… We used to meet in the evening in the nearby lanes.” However, the family of the lady soon started to pressure her to either marry Salim or settle with someone who they’d arrange.

Luckily, Salim and Salma decided to bring their union on paper and they tied the knot in 1964. This early wedding came with a lot of financial difficulties for the family. “Thodi si paiso ya job ki pareshaani toh hoti hi hai- ki kya hoga kaise hoga? (There were always concerns about money or job security— how would things work out),” Salim shared adding that because he needed money to make ends meet he accepted anything including cigarette and clothing ads.

It was soon that Salim realized that his creative mind deserved a seat behind the camera. Khan shared how he could explain a character to actors like Dilip Kumar or Amitabh Bachchan, but couldn’t perform herself and that is when he decided to quit acting and focus on writing.

Angry Young Men is available to stream on Prime Video.

“Who Does He Think He Is?” Joe Biden Blasts Donald Trump In Fiery Speech

In a charged and emotional farewell speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, President Joe Biden delivered a scathing critique of former President Donald Trump, labelling him a “loser” and vigorously defending his own legacy.

Mr Biden, who recently announced his decision to step aside from the 2024 presidential race, received a thunderous ovation from the crowd, which chanted “We love you, Joe,” in a show of solidarity.

“Donald Trump says we are losing, but he is the loser,” Mr Biden declared, drawing a stark contrast between his administration’s achievements and what he described as the failures of the Trump presidency. “He is dead wrong. Name a country in the world that does not think we are the leading nation in the world. Who could lead the world if not us?”

Donald Trump Slammed

Mr Biden did not hold back in his condemnation of Mr Trump, particularly in relation to the former president’s alleged disrespect for military service members.

“He called soldiers who gave their lives for this country, suckers and losers. Who does he think he is?” Mr Biden asked. “Trump bows down to (Vladimir) Putin. I never have and Kamala Harris will never do it.”

Mr Biden criticised Mr Trump’s “America First” doctrine, which he said had damaged the nation’s global image, contrasting his own administration’s efforts to unite Europe and counter Russian aggression. He cited the expansion of NATO, with the addition of Finland and Sweden, as an example to the success of his foreign policy.

Sharing an anecdote, Mr Biden revealed that former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, just days before his death, had called him to express concern over Russia’s resurgence under Putin, likening the current situation to the days of Napoleon. “Putin thought he could take Kyiv in three days. Three years later, Ukraine is still free,” Mr Biden said.

Emotional Joe Biden

The 81-year-old Biden, visibly moved, also spoke at length about the challenges he faced and the progress made during his presidency. His speech was punctuated by moments of reflection on the state of American democracy and the stakes of the upcoming election. “We are in a battle for the very soul of America,” Mr Biden said.

Kamala Harris, America’s first female, Black, and South Asian vice president, has taken a lead over Mr Trump in the polls.

In her brief but powerful remarks, Ms Harris expressed gratitude to Mr Biden, saying, “We are forever grateful to you.” She praised his leadership and commitment to the country, setting the stage for her own formal acceptance of the party’s nomination later in the week. With Beyonce’s “Freedom” blaring from loudspeakers during her entrance on stage, Ms Harris said, “I want to kick us off by celebrating our incredible president Joe Biden.”

‘Hate Was On The March’

Mr Biden, joined by his wife Jill and daughter Ashley, spoke candidly about his reasons for running in 2020, recalling the violence during the US Capitol Hill riots and a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville  in 2021 and Mr Trump’s response that “there were very fine people on both sides.”

“Hate was on the march in America. Old ghosts in new garments,” Mr Biden said. “There is no place in America for political violence, none. You cannot say you love your country only when you win.”

Mr Biden also addressed the ongoing conflict in Gaza, a subject of intense debate and protest both within the United States and around the world. He spoke of the urgent need to bring hostages home and end the war in Gaza, acknowledging the suffering on both sides of the conflict. “We are working around the clock to reunite hostages with families and end the civilian suffering in Gaza,” Mr Biden said.

He also expressed empathy for the protestors demanding an end to the violence. “Those protestors out in the streets have a point. A lot of people have been killed on both sides,” Mr Biden said.
