Aditya Dhar Says Ranveer Singh Worked for 18-hours a Day During The Shoot of Dhurandhar

Filmmaker Aditya Dhar is currently enjoying the positive reception to the trailer for his upcoming film, Dhurandhar. The trailer for the spy action film, which released yesterday, has grabbed attention of both fans and movie enthusiasts. During the trailer launch, Aditya praised the cast’s dedication to the project, noting that many of them worked for 16-18 hours daily, without complaining. However, his remarks have once again sparked discussions about the working conditions in Bollywood.

The trailer for Dhurandhar was released at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai on Tuesday morning. This event was attended by Aditya Dhar, the film’s lead actor Ranveer Singh, and other members of the cast. During the event, Aditya Dhar shared some insights about the filmmaking process, saying, “When we started this journey, there was a gap of five years since I last made a film. We slowly got hold of people who wanted to prove themselves. Every actor, every HoD gave their all to the film. It is extraordinary how everyone put their heart and soul into it, which doesn’t happen very often. A lot of times, HoDs get into a project because the money is good or it is prestigious.”

He also added that the cast and crew gave their maximum efforts to the film. He said, “This was a project of absolute, pure intent of actors, HoDs, assistants, to even the spot boys. They all gave their sweat and blood for the film. Everyone worked 16 to 18 hours continuously for one and a half years, and not even once did anyone complain. Everyone has given their 100%, and that’s how the film happened.”

The statement comes at a time when discussions about workplace culture in Indian cinema are going on, with many calling for a more balanced work-life balance for both actors and technicians. Many on social media expressed their confusion about the director of a Ranveer Singh film adopting this particular tone, especially considering that Ranveer’s wife, Deepika Padukone, has been a prominent voice for shorter work shifts for actors. Deepika Padukone reportedly exited two big film projects, Spirit by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and the Kalki sequel by Nag Ashwin, due to unfulfilled requests for an eight-hour work shift as a new mother.
