Mohammed Yunus, Nobel laureate and interim government chief of Bangladesh, praised a student-led revolution that led to the collapse of government machinery. The protests, addressing preferential quotas in government jobs, resulted in Sheikh Hasina fleeing to India. Yunus acknowledged the challenges faced by the interim government following the violent clashes between authorities and students, which caused significant turmoil.

If any disturbance occurs in the neighbourhood, everyone thinks India is safe and comes here, said Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju.

Several Hindu temples, households and businesses were vandalised and at least two Hindu leaders affiliated with the Hasina’s Awami Leaguewere killed.
