The Supreme Court has put a hold on the Allahabad High Court’s decision to not dismiss summons against Rahul Gandhi in a defamation case related to his comments on Veer Savarkar. The apex court cautioned Gandhi about making disrespectful statements about freedom fighters, particularly Savarkar, who is highly respected in Maharashtra. The court, notably, referenced historical context, pointing out that Rahul Gandhi’s grandmother, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, had written a letter praising Savarkar.
