Rakul Preet Singh has responded to reports linking her name to a recent Income Tax search operation in Mumbai. In a statement shared on Instagram, the actor clarified that the search was not related to her.
Reports had suggested that Rakul was connected to an investigation concerning alleged illegal foreign remittances and benami properties. Addressing the reports, the actor strongly denied any involvement and criticised sections of the media and online platforms for publishing what she called unverified and speculative information.
In her statement Rakul wrote, “It’s heartbreaking to see that there’s a growing trend amongst the self styled online reporters and some main stream media journalists to sensationalise the news without verifying facts,” Rakul wrote, “Let’s therefore set the record straight once for all. The search was not pertaining to me. Let it be known that I am from the Armed Forces background & had no Godfather in the Industry. I have come up through sheer hardwork & as a responsible law abiding citizen have been paying my due taxes since the age of 20 years.”
Rakul further stated that she has been responsible about paying her taxes and expressed concern that such reports could harm her reputation without establishing the facts. She also urged publications and digital platforms that carried the reports to retract the claims and issue a clarification.
The actor’s statement comes after her name surfaced in reports surrounding the Income Tax action in Mumbai, leading to speculation about her alleged connection to the investigation.

Meanwhile, the financial investigation remains separate from Rakul’s clarification. Authorities are examining documents and financial records as part of the searches, while the findings of the operation have not yet been officially disclosed.
For now, Rakul has maintained that the Income Tax search was not connected to her and denied any involvement in the matter.
