After a blockbuster start during the weekend – minting Rs 300 crore worldwide for the first four days – all eyes were on Kantara Chapter 1 waiting to see how it fares on its first Monday. But Rishab Shetty’s film came out with flying colours. The film earned a magnificent Rs 30 crore at the box office on Monday (day 5).

Box office dream run continues

Rishab Shetty’s film passed the Monday litmus test proving it’s potential. The film registered around Rs 30 crore at the box office. Kannada continues to be the principal contributor with Rs 11.5 crore, Telugu version minted Rs 5.5 crore while Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil versions netted Rs 8.75 crore, Rs 2.75 crore and Rs 2.75 respectively. The overall collections of Kantara Chapter 1 for five days are estimated to be Rs 362.75 crore worldwide (gross). While the Indian box office registered Rs 307 crore (gross), 256.5 crore is estimated to be the film’s net collections. According to trade sources, for five days, Kantara Chapter 1 collected Rs 75.85 crore in Karnataka, Rs 52.75 crore in Telugu and Rs 82.25 crore in Hindi. Tamil and Malayalam versions registered an estimated Rs 24.75 crore and Rs 20.9 crore respectively. In overseas too, Kantara Chapter 1’s dream run continues with the Rishab Shetty directorial minting nearly $7M Rs (55.75 crore).

Kantara Chapter 1 beats Yash’s KGF

The astonishing collections of Kantara Chapter 1 is making all the distributions sit and take notice of. The rustic thriller scripted new record at the box office. But the proudest possession came when the film beat Yash-starrer KGF collections. In Karnataka, KGF-2 minted approximately 73.50 crores (gross) for four-day weekend. But Kantara Chapter 1 surpassed it by earning Rs 70 crore. The prequel is set to cross Rs 100 crores (gross) milestone in Karnataka after Baahubali 2, KGF 2, and Kantara.
