Prime Minister Narendra Modi planted a ‘sindoor’ sapling, presented to him by a group of women who had shown remarkable courage during the 1971 war, at his residence on World Environment Day on Thursday.

Meghalaya Police discovered a stained 3XL raincoat near Sohra during the search for Sonam Raghuvanshi, whose husband, Raja, was found murdered. Forensic tests are underway to determine if the stains are blood and if the raincoat matches Sonam’s.

Preliminary examination suggests that the women may have been strangled or suffocated to death.
