Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday said the iron bridge over the Indrayani river was rusted and prima facie it gave way as several people were standing on the structure, killing two individuals.

A tragic incident occurred in Pune district as an old iron bridge over the Indrayani River collapsed near Kundamala village, resulting in two fatalities and 32 injuries, with six individuals in critical condition. Rescue operations are underway, with NDRF personnel and police teams working to locate those feared trapped. Authorities have rescued six people so far, and search efforts continue on a war footing.

Amid escalating conflict, Israel targeted critical infrastructure linked to Iran’s nuclear program in Tehran, with about 50 fighter jets striking key sites. Iran retaliated, hitting Israeli aircraft refuelling sites and warning of a broader response. Casualties are mounting on both sides, with dozens killed and hundreds wounded.
