Moana Actress Auliʻi Cravalho Always Looks Forward To Hang Out With ‘Larger Than Life’ Co-Star Dwayne Johnson

Auliʻi Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson are all set to reprise their roles in the highly anticipated sequel to the hit animated film Moana. The former recently spoke about her experience working with the Rock and described him as a great hang out buddy.

Speaking to IMDB, Cravalho shared she had a “blast” working with the actor. “I love that guy. He’s truly larger than life, both on and off the screen,” she added. “He’s very kind. He’s great at his job. I mean, I always look forward to hanging out with him.”

Cravalho shared a funny anecdote between the duo during their line recording sessions for Moana 2. She revealed that the Jumanji actor is always on top of his and her lines and whenever she fumbles, he’d leave no chance of teasing her.

“[Any] time I would mess up a line, he’d go, ‘[clears throat].’ What?! It was harder to maintain my composure knowing that he was as on top of my lines as I was supposed to be,” she recalled. Moana was released in 2016 and became a huge critical and commercial success.

Watching Moana, daughter of chief Tui, hoping on an adventure to bring back glory to her island, was inspiring to several young girls. Despite the success Disney didn’t announce follow up projects in the franchise until 2020. The studio revealed that a Disney+ series has been commissioned.

However, there were no developmental updates on the project for years until 2024, when the channel announced that the series had been converted into a feature film, to the surprise of many fans.

Moana 2, the animated sequel to the original film, will take place three years after the events of the first one. Moana will venture into the dangerous waters of Oceania to fulfill a mission she got from her wayfinding ancestors. According to the official announcement, this adventure is “unlike anything she’s ever faced.”

Production on the live-action remake kicked off on August 2 under the working title Canon. Catherine Lagaʻaia will play Moana, John Tui, Frankie Adams, and Rena Owen will round out the cast as Chief Tui, Sina, and Gramma Tala, respectively. Johnson will embody his character Maui, while Cravalho will be on board as producer.

Moana 2 will be released in theaters on November 27, 2024.

The film Saripodhaa Sanivaaram marks the second collaboration of the actress with the Natural Star after the film Gang Leader. The movie tells the tale of a young man, Surya who works as an insurance agent and lives with his father.

However, the man has an anger issue and to cope with it, he expresses his emotions only every Saturday of the week. This leads him to earn many adversaries, finally locking horns with a notorious police officer, known for his evil ways.

The rest of the film focuses on how he bests the policeman who is cunningly out to capture him as well. Aside from the lead cast, the film also has actors like Abhirami, Aditi Balan, P. Sai Kumar, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Murali Sharma, and Ajay Ghosh in key roles. The movie which was released recently is earning a positive reception from both audience and critics, especially praising Nani and SJ Suryah’s performances.

Moreover, Priyanka Arul Mohan was recently seen making a special appearance in Dhanush’s 3rd directorial called Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam (NEEK)’s first single. The track called Golden Sparrow was composed by GV Prakash Kumar and teased a few glimpses of the actress.

Furthermore, the actress will next be seen playing a leading role in Pawan Kalyan’s much-awaited movie They Call Him OG, directed by Saaho fame Sujeeth.

She welcomed a baby girl with Ali Fazal in July earlier this year. The actress is often seen giving a peek into her daily routine; and now recently, the new mom dropped a video offering a glimpse of PeeCee’s special gift for her little one.

Ever since the arrival of their little girl, Richa Chadha has been consistent in offering her day-to-day glimpses. Now, a while back, the actress took to her Instagram stories and dropped an endearing video offering a glimpse of Priyanka Chopra’s special gift for her daughter.

In the video, we can see a big transparent balloon with, “Welcome to the world, baby” written on it. Additionally, two colorful balloons were also stored inside it. The video gives a closer peek into a series of cute little white dresses and a white soft toy. There was a card placed beside that mentioned, “Chopra Jonas Family.” The gift corner was adorned with white and lavender flowers.

Following their visit, during a conversation with Hindustan Times, Shabana revealed that her husband, Javed Akhtar, proposed the name ‘Jwala Ali’ for the newborn, inspired by Richa’s vibrant personality. Shabana noted, “Javed suggested they named her Jwala Ali” adding, “But they have given a beautiful name already.”
