Ravi Tejaâs Irumudi Eyes August Release
Ravi Teja is gearing up for an emotionally charged outing with Irumudi. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film has already completed a major portion of its shoot and is now heading into the final leg of production. The makers are planning a grand theatrical release in August, possibly during the Independence Day weekend.
The film presents Ravi Teja in a role rarely explored in mainstream commercial cinema. He plays a devoted Ayyappa Swamy follower who carries the sacred Irumudi during a vibrant procession. Audiences can expect festive visuals, emotional moments, and celebratory sequences featuring the actor dancing joyfully with his on-screen daughter.

Back to grounded storytelling
The project appears to mark a return to the grounded storytelling that once defined Ravi Teja’s filmography. In the 2000s, films like Shambo Shiva Shambo, Neninthe, Naa Autograph, and Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi connected strongly with audiences because of their emotional honesty and relatable characters. Irumudi seems poised to revisit that space with a mature emotional core.
The film also stars Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female lead. Buzz around the film’s August release has intensified amid speculation that two other major Telugu releases may be postponed.

Finding strength in the family space
In recent years, Ravi Teja has consciously balanced mass entertainers with family-oriented roles. This year’s Sankranthi release Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi showcased him in a softer and more emotional space. A few years ago, Dhamaka emerged as a major commercial success and reaffirmed his box-office strength with energetic entertainment. In Waltair Veerayya, he shared screen space with Chiranjeevi and delivered a memorable performance.
There is also growing buzz that Ravi Teja may soon collaborate with Vivek Athreya, a filmmaker known for his fresh and contemporary storytelling style.
