Shah Rukh Khanâs King to release on THIS date?
Shah Rukh Khan’s next big-screen spectacle, King, is reportedly gearing up for a grand Christmas 2026 release, sending fans into a fresh wave of excitement. After the massive success of Pathaan and Jawan, anticipation is sky-high for the superstar’s next collaboration with director Siddharth Anand, and the latest report suggests the makers have now finalised the festive release window.
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the team had been deliberating between two dates. There was a choice between December 4 and December 25, 2026. However, the team has now locked Christmas as the final release slot. A source revealed that Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand wanted to give the film the biggest possible theatrical runway, while also being mindful of the crowded release calendar.
The report further states that the makers intentionally avoided an early December release to maintain a healthy gap from Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious Ramayana, which is expected to arrive in mid-November and could dominate the box office. “SRK and Sid are clear in maintaining a gap from Ramayana. They don’t want to hurt the business of that divine saga in any way, and hence have locked a Christmas 2026 release,” the source was quoted as saying, adding that the 45-day gap will give both films the breathing space they deserve.
With Christmas now locked, King is expected to enjoy a largely uncontested run at the Hindi box office. While Hollywood’s Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to release a week earlier, the source noted that Shah Rukh Khan’s films have a unique pull with Indian audiences that is hard to match.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, King features an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, Suhana Khan, Abhay Verma and more. The official announcement of the release date is expected to be made in the coming week.
