The rationalisation of Goods and Services tax, done eight years after the flagship reforms were initiated, took place after a clear directive from Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered from the ramparts of the Red Fort on Independence Day.

Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar faces accusations of obstructing IPS officer Anjana Krishna’s efforts to curb illegal sand mining in Solapur. A video circulating online purportedly captures Pawar instructing Krishna to halt action against an NCP member involved. Opposition leaders are demanding an apology, alleging Pawar threatened the officer after she insisted on verifying his identity.

The case dates back to July this year when a 20-day old infant was admitted to a hospital in Gurugram. The baby is healthy and doing fine now.
