Game of Thrones Spinoff A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Unveils Character With A Familiar Name; Guess Who?

House of the Dragon season 2 came to a rather somber conclusion last Sunday, August 4. There’s a long wait before the next season arrives, but fans have a brand new spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms to look forward to!

This show is set 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of Ser Duncan the Tall, a.k.a. Dunk, a former squire who becomes a Knight in his own right and his new squire Egg, who’s likely connected to House Targaryen. The timeline of HOTD and the new spin-off is more than a century apart but a common name was featured in the cast announcement.

Edward Ashley will play Ser Steffon Fossoway, Youssef Kerkour will play Steely Pate, Shaun Thomas will play Raymun Fossoway, Daniel Monks will play Ser Manfred Dondarrion, Danny Webb will play Ser Arlan of Pennytree and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor will play Plummer, and Henry Ashton will play Daeron Targaryen.

Those who followed the second season of the spin-off based on the Targaryen civil war will recognize Daeron Targaryen, the dragon rider—deemed to be a key player in Dance of the Dragons.

However, there’s neither any mix-up with the names nor will Henry Asthon appear in HOTD season 3. The confusion was caused because names are repeated through multiple generations in the Targaryen household. Simply put, Daeron Targaryen on both shows are two different characters with no interconnection besides their name. The actor set to play Daeron in season 3 is yet to be unveiled.

Peter Claffey will portray the role of Dunk who squires for a hedge knight and takes up his possession after his death. Dexter Sol Ansell will play his young squire Egg in the six-episode series executive-produced by Ira Parker and Martin, under the guidance of House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal.

According to Condal’s statement to Entertainment Weekly, the latest spin-off will focus on the perils of the small folks, especially during times of war. “Dunk and Egg is about the small folk who suffer at the hands of the game of thrones as it’s played by the nobles,” Condal said.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will premiere on 15 June 2025.

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba Screening: Vicky Kaushal arrives with parents to watch brother Sunny’s film; joins Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey, Dia Mirza and others

Taapsee Pannu is back with the sequel to the 2021 romantic thriller film, Haseen Dillruba. Helmed by Jayprad Desai, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba is all set to release on August 9, 2024. But before the audience can finally enjoy the movie in theatres, the team hosted a star-studded screening of it in Mumbai.

The lead actress of the movie, Taapsee Pannu made a head-turning at the event. For the special night, she went in a black floor-length dress. Her attire also featured a red cloth attached to her dress with a huge red rose. Keeping her makeup dewy with kohl-rimmed eyes and nude lips, she tied her hair in a high ponytail.

She was joined by her co-star, Vikrant Massey, and Sunny Kaushal. While the 12th Fail actor decided to go with a beige suit with a white shirt and brown striped tie, the Shiddat actor looked dapper in an all-black outfit. While Pannu will be reprising her role as Rani Saxena, Massey portrays Rishabh Saxena. Sunny, on the other hand, is seen in the role of Abhimanyu.

Vicky Kaushal attended the event to show his support for his brother, Sunny. The Masaan star came dressed casually for the premiere. He donned a black hoodie with a pair of blue denim and white sneakers. At the Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba event, the actor brothers posed with their parents, father Sham Kaushal and mom Veena Kaushal.

They were joined by the gorgeous diva of the Indian film industry, actress Dia Mirza. She came dressed in an easy-breezy, flowy blue dress and paired it with high heels and a sling bag. The mommy dearest kept her makeup subtle and left her hair open.

Then arrived actor Aparshakti Khurana, known for movies like Stree, Luka Chuppi, Pati Patni Aur Woh, and more. The brother of ace artist Ayushmann Khurrana sported a pair of blue pants with a matching shirt over a white tee which he coordinated with his sneakers. With a bright smile, he posed at the event.

He was greeted by his Stree co-star, actor Abhishek Banerjee. Unlike his image of a simple village boy in his movies, he looked stylish in a black shirt. The Bhediya actor paired it with brown wide-legged pants and that went perfectly with his colorful eyewear and shoes.

Actor Jimmy Sheirgill, who plays the role of Mrityunjay Prasad in Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba also attended the screening. Ridley Scott Says ‘I Don’t Need Advice’ On Directing & Never Meddled With Alien: Romulus Despite Fede Alvarez’s Insistence

Ridley Scott, best known for directing 2012’s Prometheus and 2017’s Alien: Covenant, has taken a break from the director’s chair on his upcoming project Alien: Romulus. The sci-fi horror is now helmed by Don’t Breathe and Evil Dead director Fede Alvarez. Although Scott gave the reins to Alvarez as a producer, he was deeply involved in the development stage of the film.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Scott revealed that Alvarez’s initial screenplay was long, and the two worked together to finesse it. “The danger of all franchises is they do die unless somebody suddenly decides to pick up the mat and run down the field with a ball,” he told the outlet.

He also added that Fede had a “blueprint” in his mind, and he had to step back and let him take over. “It was also long, but the screenplay is always long. And so we got into that a little bit,” he added.

However, when it comes to directing, the Gladiator II director prefers to neither give nor take advice. Scott claims that advice is the last thing a creative person—carrying a project on their back—would like to hear.

Although Alvarez pinged Scott every time a milestone was hit, the latter was adamant not to meddle with his work or approach. “I do not need advice. If I fall on my own sword and therefore lie bleeding, I say, ‘It was my fault,’” he added. Moreover, he has great hopes for Alvarez and his “streak of brilliance!”

Speaking at last year’s DGA Latino Summit, Alvarez said he “had to go through the incredibly tense process” to send the final cut of Alien: Romulus to Scott. “I wanted him to see it before anybody,” he said at the time.

The Evil Dead director revealed that everyone gave him a heads-up that Scott was hard to please. “Ridley is really tough. He’s really tough, particularly if it has something to do with his movies.” The director was not pleased with Blade Runner 2049, which Alvarez considered a masterpiece. “It’s really hard for him because it’s his work,” he added.

When Alvarez presented the final product to the legendary director, he was ready to hear that he “destroyed” his legacy, but instead, he exclaimed, “Fede, what can I say? It’s fucking great,” the former recalled.

Alien: Romulus will be released on August 16, 2024.
