May 2026 looks like a crowded and competitive month for Bollywood, bringing together a mix of large-scale spectacles, mid-budget entertainers as well as niche storytelling. Opening the month is Raja Shivaji, a historical drama led by Riteish Deshmukh that revisits the life of the iconic Maratha warrior with a focus on scale and legacy. The film is expected to appeal to audiences drawn to period narratives and grand visuals. On the other end of the spectrum, Ek Din, starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, introduces a softer, romantic storyline that explores relationships across cultural boundaries. Its relatively understated tone offers a contrast to the louder commercial releases arriving around the same time.

The second week intensifies the pace with films like Gabru, featuring Sunny Deol in a high-energy role, and Aakhri Sawal, a drama centred on political tension and moral dilemmas, led by Sanjay Dutt. These releases aim to tap into audiences seeking strong performances and gripping narratives. Meanwhile, lighter films such as Daadi Ki Shaadi and Main Actor Nahin Hoon add a family-friendly and comedic layer to the lineup.

Mid-month brings more familiar Bollywood territory with Pati Patni Aur Woh 2, continuing its take on modern relationships with humour and drama. Alongside it, VVAN – Force of the Forest introduces a blend of action and fantasy, hinting at an attempt to expand genre storytelling within mainstream cinema.

Toward the end of the month, titles like Chand Mera Dil, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and Bandar contribute a mix of romance, satire and youth-driven narratives. The lineup closes with Masood Khan: Part 1 – The Rage, signalling the start of a potentially larger franchise. Overall, May balances spectacle with variety.

The marriage drama escalates as love triangles and lies return in this highly anticipated chaotic sequel. Building on the foundation of the 2019 hit, the trailer for Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 dives straight into familiar territory, bringing back its signature mix of marital chaos, deception, and situational comedy. This time, however, the stakes feel significantly higher as the story expands beyond a simple three-way attraction into a complex web of misunderstandings and modern complications.

The narrative follows a seemingly settled marriage that quickly spirals when temptation and secrets re-enter the picture. While the first film focused on the “mid-life itch,” the sequel appears to explore the fragility of trust in the digital age. The trailer hints at multiple twists, with characters juggling elaborate lies while trying to maintain appearances, leading to a series of comic yet tense situations that keep the audience guessing who is playing whom. Visually, the film sticks to a bright, urban aesthetic, reflecting modern relationships and their inherent complexities.

What stands out most is the pacing—the trailer moves at a breakneck speed, packing in confrontations and romantic confusion without revealing too much of the final act. Beyond the laughter, the film subtly taps into relatable relationship dilemmas, such as the struggle for spontaneity in long-term commitments.

The ensemble cast appears to have deepened their chemistry, with the “Pati” caught in an even more precarious balancing act than before. The introduction of new supporting characters suggests that the “Woh” factor might be more than just a single person this time around, adding a fresh layer of unpredictability to the franchise.

The film’s cast includes Ayushmann Khurrana, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rakul Preet Singh and Sara Ali Khan in key roles. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the film will release in cinemas on May 15.
