A coordinated series of military escalations along the India-Pakistan frontier Thursday evening marked one of the most intense military face-offs between the two nuclear-armed neighbours in recent years.

Following a major escalation by Pakistan in the form of attempted missile strikes in Jammu and Kashmir and drone strikes in other parts of India, including Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer, the Indian Navy has started a retaliatory operation, sources have said.

Tensions have escalated along the western border as the Indian Army released footage of a Pakistani drone being shot down. This action follows a major assault by Pakistani Armed Forces involving drones, missiles, and ceasefire violations across Jammu and Kashmir. Indian forces repulsed the attacks, responding with force after Operation Sindoor targeted terror camps in retaliation for a prior attack.
