A lawyer aligned with the pro-Pakistan Jamaat-E-Islami Bangladesh has issued a death threat to Tarique Rahman, just hours after the Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader landed in the country after 17 years in exile.

A suicide attempt at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah was prevented after a member of the mosque’s security forces stepped in, sustaining injuries while trying to stop the man from jumping from an upper level.

Police say the attacker, from the occupied West Bank, ran over at least one person before stabbing another victim several miles away.
