Subhash Atul, a Bengaluru-based executive, tragically died by suicide, alleging harassment by his wife and in-laws for a hefty sum. His family seeks justice, citing a 24-page death note and video detailing the alleged extortion and legal manipulation. A case of abetment to suicide has been filed against his wife and her family, who deny involvement.

Advocate Ashwini Upadhyay challenged the Places of Worship Act, 1991, arguing the need for surveys at disputed religious sites. He asserted a place’s religious character can’t be determined by mere observation. The Supreme Court restrained all courts from ordering surveys in such cases while it reviews the Act’s constitutionality.

The incident took place on Sunday when the victim, Shabbir, went to the canteen of Kailash Talkies in Inderganj area during the movie interval to buy food
