​Former Supreme Court chief justice Sushila Karki is sworn in after a deal with protest leaders.  

Sushila Karki became the Prime Minister of Nepal. This followed protests against the previous government. Karki is an alumna of Banaras Hindu University. She was selected after consultations with key figures. The protests were sparked by a social media ban. They grew into a rejection of corruption. Karki previously served as Nepal’s first female chief justice.

PM Modi said this effort is key to reclaiming India’s knowledge legacy and building a self-reliant India
