Mona Singh reveals what Aamir Khan told her after Laal Singh Chaddha

Mona Singh, celebrated for her diverse portrayals, has earned accolades for her versatile roles, notably in projects like portraying Aamir Khan’s mother in Laal Singh Chaddha and the spirited Bulbul Jauhari in Zoya Akhtar’s Made In Heaven 2. In a recent interview, Mona candidly discussed the emotional aftermath following the box office setback experienced by Laal Singh Chaddha. She recounted a poignant encounter with Aamir after the film’s underwhelming performance and how she broke down upon learning of its box office fate.

Reflecting on the aftermath, Mona shared an encounter with Aamir at a party where she inquired about his well-being. Aamir’s response of reassurance, stating, “Mona, it’s okay. We all have to move on,” resonated deeply with her. Recalling the impact of Laal Singh Chaddha on her career, she credited the film for opening doors to numerous projects this year, including five series and a film, attributing it all to her involvement in Laal Singh Chadha. 

She vividly recollected the day of the film’s release when its disappointing reception sank in. Mona recalled seeking solace with Aamir and Advait, the director, as they processed the turn of events together. The atmosphere went between quiet moments and laughter before emotions overcame her, leading to tears. Mona expressed the difficulty of facing this setback, especially after creating a film steeped in love and empathy, devoid of controversies or divisive elements. Despite the initial reception, she held firm in her belief that the film they created possessed a timeless beauty destined for cult status, citing the recent fervour around its one-year anniversary as a testament to its enduring impact.
