A serious mismanagement of medicine stores in Madhya Pradesh was flagged in a central audit report last year, months before one of the country’s worst medicine tragedies left at least 23 children dead in the state.

Venezuela’s Maria Corina Machado has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her work in promoting democracy and fighting dictatorship in her country.

Machado is recognised for “tireless work promoting democratic rights” in Venezuela, the Nobel Committee says.
