Maharashtra’s BJP-led government is facing opposition over making Hindi a compulsory third language in schools under the New Education Policy 2020. Raj Thackeray’s MNS party strongly opposes this move, viewing it as an imposition of Hindi on Marathi speakers. Congress has also criticized the decision, fearing it undermines Marathi culture.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the BJP are responsible for instigating communal violence in the state.

The denial from the BJP was firm and unequivocal. The ruling party at the Centre underlined that it respects the judiciary, and that the comments made by its MPs against the Supreme Court have nothing to do with the BJP.
