India has strongly protested China’s detention of an Indian citizen from Arunachal Pradesh at Shanghai airport, asserting the region’s integral status. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that China’s denials won’t alter this reality, emphasizing the incident violated international norms and China’s own transit regulations. Beijing, however, rejected harassment claims.

The announcement comes amid a row over Union Minister Jitendra Singh’s recent remarks on the nomenclature of the premier institute.

India last hosted the Games in 2010 in New Delhi, marking a major milestone as the event’s first edition in the country.
